My Experience Using Conjurer's Hubris in Battle

Hello Splinterlands warriors, how are you today?
Hopefully you’re still fired up to battle… even though sometimes what we’re fighting isn’t just the enemy, but also our own decisions when choosing a lineup. 😄

This time I want to share a story about one card that can quietly change the course of a battle. That card is: Conjurer's Hubris.

Honestly, at first I hesitated to get Conjurer's Hubris.
Not because it’s not good… but because it’s expensive.

This is a dual splinter Fire and Water card, with a mana cost of 11.
At max level, it has:

  • 3 magic damage
  • 3 melee damage
  • 7 health
  • 4 speed

And what finally made me “give in” and buy it for long-term collection?

Its four offensive abilities:

  • Apex Strike
  • Stun
  • Ambush
  • Expose

Though for now, I’ve only tried using one copy.

Strengths: Destroying Before Being Touched

What you can gain once the card is upgraded and unlocks Ambush:

  • You can reduce enemy HP right from the start
  • You might even eliminate one unit before the battle truly begins
  • It creates mental pressure (yes, this matters 😄)

Especially when combined with:

  • Apex Strike → directly targets the strongest unit
  • Expose → removes key abilities
  • Stun (at higher levels) → can disable enemies

This isn’t just an opening attack…
it’s like starting the battle with a heavy blow. But of course, that’s in full upgrade mode.

Battle Moment: Between Strategy and a Bit of Luck

I tried this card in a battle with these rulesets:

  • Explosive Weaponry
  • Back to Basic

Even though my card was still level 1, I went for it anyway.

The result?

Honestly… I won.
But I won’t act like I’m a pro—this was one of those wins where luck definitely played a role, especially since my opponent wasn’t a random player.

What’s interesting:
Even without full abilities, the dual attack still felt impactful. I could still deal damage even from a mid position.

Interesting Point: Dual Attack = Double Pressure

What makes Conjurer's Hubris unique:

  • It has two types of attack
  • Gains even more power with upgrades

This makes it feel like:

👉 a tank that isn’t in the front line
👉 while also being a main damage dealer

It’s rare to find a card that can play both roles at once.

But of course, no card is perfect.

Some downsides I noticed:

  • 11 mana cost is heavy
  • Needs proper lineup support
  • Not optimal at low level

Closing: Impressions and Strategy

My impression of Conjurer's Hubris?

Expensive, but worth it.
Especially if you like playing aggressively and controlling the tempo from the start.

Strategies I can share:

  • Use it in high mana battles
  • Combine with other damage dealers for follow-up
  • Utilize Ambush to take out key enemy units
  • Don’t rely on it too much—build a balanced team

In the end, from all this experience I learned one thing:

Sometimes victory isn’t decided in the middle or the end… but in the very first second that not everyone notices.

See you in the arena. And be careful… your opponent might have already attacked before you even blink. 😉
