An Ordinary Season, Real Progress: A Small Story from the Arena

Hey Splinterlands warriors,

If anyone asked how my last season went, I’d probably sum it up like this: a complete rollercoaster—basically crypto prices in human form. One moment I’m on a win streak feeling like a tactical genius, the next few matches I’m getting absolutely wrecked, wondering if my monsters secretly switched sides mid-battle.

For the past few seasons, I’ve been camping out in the Silver league (Modern format). Not by accident. I’ve been in that grind phase—slowly building up my card collection, leveling things up bit by bit, and trying to keep up with a meta that just refuses to sit still.

But after what felt like forever being stuck in place…
last season, I finally pushed back into Gold tier.

And yeah—that felt good.

Not just because of the rewards, but because it finally felt like all that grinding—upgrading cards, refining strategies—was actually paying off.

I did ask myself a few things, though.

Did I reach Gold because my collection is finally strong enough?
Or because my strategy has improved?

Or… is it because some strong players moved to other modes, making Modern a bit less competitive?

I really hope it’s not the last one. Because at the end of the day, what keeps Splinterlands alive is its community and the competition between players.

Whatever the reason, though, this season gave me a small but satisfying achievement:

I made it into the Top 100 leaderboard.

And for someone who’s been flipping back and forth in Silver for ages, that honestly feels like stepping onto a mini podium.

With the tier climb, the chest rewards were obviously better too. And like any hopeful player, I opened them one by one, imagining that one insane pull waiting inside.

But yeah… reality hit.

No crazy card.
No “jump out of my chair” moment.
No screenshot-worthy pull to flex in guild chat.

But that’s Splinterlands.

Sometimes the real reward isn’t what’s inside the chest—
it’s the grind that got you there.

Even if the chests were underwhelming, one thing still felt worth it: Glint.

By the end of the season, I had around 34,954 Glint. Not huge, since I chose not to boost Glint this time and instead went for some SPS gains as well.

But thanks to hitting the leaderboard, I got an extra 12,500 Glint bonus.

And honestly?
That bonus hits different.

Sometimes climbing tiers isn’t about bragging rights—it’s about the long-term impact on your card progression.

Aside from season rewards, there’s something else that’s been keeping me motivated:
the chance to pull cards from the Battle Mage Wagon.

Right now, I’m still working on building my Escalation collection, so events like this feel pretty exciting. There’s always that small spark of hope—maybe one day my collection will be solid enough to compete more seriously.

And I think that’s what keeps me going.

There’s always a next goal.

Closing

And just like that, the new season starts… back at Silver II.

Honestly, not a bad place to begin the climb again. At least I’m not starting from the very bottom.

My overall takeaway this season?

Nothing spectacular—but definitely real progress.

As for my next steps, the plan is simple:

  • keep strengthening my collection
  • focus on upgrading my most-used cards
  • farm Glint more consistently
  • and slowly build my way to even higher tiers

Because in Splinterlands, big wins don’t just happen out of nowhere—
they’re built from long journeys that at first feel completely ordinary. ⚔️
