Silver Commemorating Arches National Park
Today has been one of those days that I really didn't have a plan for a post. I used to do my weekly giveaway, but now Sunday is a wide open void with no particular topic to fill it. After brainstorming for quite a while I realized I hadn't shared one of my Silver Strike tokens in a few weeks. After reviewing some of my old pictures on my computer I found a perfect one!
This is a Silver Strike token that could be won by playing the Silver Strike slot machines at casinos pretty much around the world at one point. Now they becoming something of a unicorn, hard to find if any at all. I like collecting the tokens from defunct casinos, why? Just my personal preference, although I have many from hotel/casinos that are still in operation. This one if form the Reno Hilton, in Reno, Nevada, from what I can tell it's no longer in existence. Either it was rebranded or simply closed for good.
What I really like about it is what is found on the design side, a tribute to Arches National Park.
About the token:

This contains about 0.6 Troy ounces of solid silver surrounded by a brass ring. The melt value of the silver is about $28, but the token is worth far more as a collectible. I remember when these were really inexpensive to pick up online, but those days are long gone!
Today I am most definitely not going to talk about Reno, Nevada. Instead I'm going with the star of the show found on the design side of the silver token, Arches National Park just outside Moab, Utah. A beautiful little city in and of itself!

This is one of my favorite National Parks in the United States. I've been there several times over the years and the vistas are absolutely amazing. In it's confines there more than 2,000 natural red sandstone arches all perched atop the Colorado Plateau in Eastern Utah. Above, I included some pictures of just a few of them.
The one you see on the token is Delicate Arch (also the first picture above), probably the most famous by far. This 52 foot (16 m) high arch has been one of the biggest attractions in the park for years, however there is a three mile 4.8 km) hike to get there with some elevation gain. It really isn't too bad, and the view is always worth the effort!
You could spend weeks hiking in the park and never see all of the sights. It's around 120 square miles (310 square km) so it's not a small area. Summers do get pretty hot, so I usually recommend spring or fall for visiting. Even better in winter, but it can get a little chilly if a storm blows through. You'll want to keep in mind that a reservation for park entrance has to made online in advance as it is one of the more popular parks in the nation. But it's worth the trip!

That is hilarious! They have shot so many movies all around the park, and Moab for that matter. Including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! It's such a beautiful area!

One of the most beautiful places in the country, I highly recommend a visit. Plus another National Park, Canyonlands is nearby Moab as well. It's kind of like a two for one trip!

Nice! I am still working on building my base stack, after having to sell and replenish a bunch, lol. After I get back to my base weight goal, then I'll start trying to find more collectible kind of stuff.
Those cheap bars are a great place to start for that. My collectible stuff I would never sell, but if the price gets high enough I might consider converting some silver into gold!

Oh yes your Sunday's will be free now! Another giveaway bites the dust. I remember when I first joined Hive participating in giveaways for Splinterlands and Rising Star, they were often the only time I got comments on Hive! When I think of people like us joining Hive now, would they stick around? I think not.
Anyway how fluffing cool is the Arches national park. Nature is simply amazing and I know you will have loved seeing those geological formations!

It's a shame that it's freed up, I enjoyed helping others out. But you can only do it by turning down all rewards on the post, and I was giving away just about all I earned on the post in tokens and HSBI. It didn't make sense to take a loss and wasting four hours of my Sunday...
Southern Utah is a beautiful place to visit if you have the chance with the Mrs. It has five National Parks and they are all amazing! Although Florida isn't half bad either, I love the ocean and good weather!
I just think so many of things should have been stopped a long time ago, why now? What has HW been doing for it to become an issue now or ... lol I could say things.
Yeah almost anywhere has some great places. I persuaded them all to do a week cruise out of Tampa for a week, so that will give Mrs T and her sisters and mother some time to relax too.

It's a gorgeous part of the country. At one point I was considering moving to Moab just because it's so beautiful, but couldn't find a way to earn enough to make a decent living there!
