As the clock struck midnight, the letter in my hands began to glow. It wasn't the familiar golden hue typically seen in fantasy movies. Instead, it had a bluish-white tint, resembling flames that could burn you instantly. Ironically, even as the light penetrated my skin, it felt cold, almost eerily so. I shivered as my hand began to stiffen like ice.
I dropped the letter to the floor almost immediately without hesitation. The fragments began to dissolve, transforming into words that were initially hard to decipher. Squinting, I gradually unraveled the message: "Your warmth has set me free!"
Years have passed, yet I still don't know the sender of that letter. What I do know is that I have completely forgotten what it feels like to be warm. I've become someone who can only survive in coldness. The sensation of warmth eludes me, both physically and emotionally. While I can still envision what warmth is, the warmth I unwillingly offered to the person who wrote that letter drained my own.
