After a week of camping with no Wi-Fi, they all agreed: maybe nature was too relaxing.
While I watched the little group of campers chat and make conclusions about our camping experience, I couldn’t agree more. I never knew we were gonna have as much fun as we did, especially since we were cut off from the entire world. No internet, no WiFi, just a bunch of adults with their backpacks and tents.
This was the Graceland class of 2013 reunion, the reunion I was thrilled to attend months ago but all thanks to my best friend for canceling and leaving me all to myself to face it all, so much for being married. While I am still pissed with Cathrine and made a mental note of the number of punishments I will subject her to, I was low-key grateful that she didn’t come.
Catherine has been my friend for so many years, and being with her at the camp meant being in our little bubble and oblivious to what was going on in our environment.
Catherine’s absence made me more aware of my surroundings. Watching the birds hum and the tree dance in unison in the wind was therapeutic. All I had to do was immerse myself in nature and all its glory.
Watching the sun rise and how majestically it set from my tent was pure bliss. Nature was truly relaxing, and it took coming to this camp to know the extent to which I needed to be immersed in it.
Being cut off from the entire world meant a complete digital detox, which I have longed for so many years but all thanks to the camp, home girl was able to achieve that.
Coming to the camp alone wasn’t part of the plan, but unfortunately, it happened, and somewhere at the back of my mind I knew I was in for a long week, but surprisingly there was a major plot twist.
I had come with the hopes of keeping to myself and staying out of people’s businesses, as I wasn’t exactly friends with certain people in attendance. I realized I had still held some grudges against certain people, but I was able to get closure. It felt like we were all given a second chance to start on a new slate, and it felt good.
Amidst nature doing its thing, blowing our minds and keeping us at peace, broken friendships were mended and new ones were created.
Truly our camping experience without WiFi was superb and I wouldn’t hesitate to go camping with these people again and again, suprising right? Yes, life happens.

XOXO
Camping with friends and being cut off from WiFi sounds so much fun.
Thank you.
That sounds like a return to paradise ... but so many of the reasons of our conflicts with others have to do with our expectations about our place in the man-made world systems, and so many of those reasons go away when we realize we do not need all those systems to be who we were created to be.
It sure was a return to paradise.
When realization hits us, it’s smooth sailing all the way and refreshing too.
