And the phone rang again, its insistent jingle cut through the serene night. Reluctantly Derick picked up his phone, for the third time silence rested on the other end. The first two calls had made him prickling unease, a feeling of being watched. He took a deep breath and softly spoke out
"Hello, who is this?" He asked, his voice barely a whisper.
He could hear hissing on the phone line, then a soft sound and a gentle scraping, like a fingernail dragging on a wall. His heart started to beat fast.
After a moment the scraping stopped, then a few words from the caller, "I'm coming for you". Derick held his phone stuck, shiver ran down his spine. He proceeded to check the caller's identity, and realized it had been an unknown caller all the while. What started as a prank was gradually becoming dreadful. He dropped the phone and stared into the blank room, everything now looking sinister.
"Who could it be?" He mumbled under his breath.
The phone rang again, Derick simply held the phone and allowed the ringing to go dead. The night became a terror, the once quiet night had a stern of horror. He knew, with a chilling certainty, that his quiet night was over. Something was coming.
