Splinterlands:Poison Burst Devours Blast & Deathblow;Sheng Xiao's Epic Dragon Takedown!

Source

Good day, fellow warriors! The season is counting down, and battles are getting fiercer. I want to share this fiery clash of dragon summoners, where Sheng Xiao edged out Nidhoggr in this high-stakes "Battle of the Dragons." Nidhoggr armed three dragons with Blast and Deathblow for chain-damage hell, while Xiao granted two of my monsters Poison Burst—and that proved lethal 💀.

Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building. Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥

FEATURED CARD:
SHENG XIAO

In the #Splinterlands community, Sheng Xiao is widely respected as a versatile and powerful dragon archon who brings both flavor and function to Dragon‑focused decks.

Sheng Xiao is a Legendary dragon archon aligned with the Conclave Arcana, known in lore as a protective, mother‑like dragon who adopted an axolotl(Calamity)into her brood, adding heart to her fearsome profile.Players often portray her not just as a battle card, but as a symbol of resilience and nurturing strength in the Splinterlands universe.
At the start of any battle, she grants two monsters poison burst and corrosive ward(in this muted because of ruleset.

Battle and Lineup

The total mana cost for this battle was 54,and you are to chose splinters from life, death and dragon elements. The rules are as follows:

All units have zero armor and cannot gain armor from ARCHONS or abilities.

All units have rebirth(self-resurrect per battle with +1 health and 100% of armor;all magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied, skips turn).

I am not going to bore you with a long write‑up, but with the battle link I’m sharing at the end of the post, watch the effect of Poison Burst from Sheng Xiao and Blast + Deathblow from Nidhoggr in action.

My Lineup: Poison Powerhouse

  • Sheng Xiao (Summoner): Poison Burst + Corrosive Ward (muted by rules).
  • Tank: Dar Tottem Gearnut(Melee, Trample) – Frontline brute, but didn't swing much.
  • Assist tank:Saltwraith Bulkhead(Melee, Weary) – Solid mid-tank soak.
  • Mindless Thrall(Magic, Phase) – Slipped through for magic pain.
  • Olivia of the Brook (Melee/Magic, Opportunity, Mimic) – Versatile killer.
  • Silverleaf Ranger (Ranged, Weary, Double Strike) – Ranged DPS machine.
  • Meriput Magician(Tank Heal) – Game-changer, Kept my frontliners alive longer.

Opponent's Lineup: Blast Dragon Swarm
Nidhoggr’s strategy was built around Rage, Night Reaper, and Calamity—each armed with Blast and Deathblow—making them a triple‑threat of chain damage and burst.

  • Nidhoggr (Summoner): Blast + Death Blow on three dragons, -1 health to all my units.
  • Tank: Halfling Refugee (Melee, Weary, Charge) – Early aggressor.
  • Ironwing Juggernaut (Melee, Weary, Charge) – Heavy hitter.
  • Rage (Magic, Flying, Void) – Ignored rules for magic nukes.
  • Night Reaper (Magic, Flying, Windbreak) – Wind control + damage.
  • Zarin the Scotch(Magic, Slow) – Debuff specialist.
  • Calamity (Magic, Electrified, Shapeshift) – Backfire king: Zapped his own allies each round (no Painforge to save them!).

Four dragons, three supercharged with Blast + Deathblow, yet Poison Burst still out‑lasted them.

Round1
All units start with 0 armor (no gains from Archon or abilities), turning it into a raw health slugfest. My -1 health debuff from Nidhoggr hurt, but strategy won out

Round 1,Scene26 & 29,I drew the first blood by taking out his tank halfling refugee even after undergoing rebirth, meanwhile I am being ripped with blast severely

Round 2, electrified ability displayed by Calamity

The whole of round 2,scence 6 to 29 was all blast, poison burst and rebirth it was pure war of attrition.

**Round 5 final round of blast and poison burst. It intense.

Last monsters standing,game over.

Please watch this exciting battle here

My verdict
My opponent prepped heavy dragons, but my mixed melee/magic/ranged with poison edged the win. Proof: Strategy trumps spam!(a well‑thought‑out, synergized lineup usually beats a so‑called “spam” deck built only around raw power or popular cards.)

Lessons for the Community
Poison Burst > Blast in prolonged fights: It ignores armor rules and stacks up.
Tank Heal shines in no-armor metas: Meriput MVP!
Watch for self-damage: Electrified without counters = doom.Dragons are meta kings, but one well-synced squad beats four. What a thrill—Sheng Xiao reigns!
