A Friendly Challenge in Splinterlands | 40 Mana - Mirror match

Hello fellow Splinterlands warriors! It's @zoe01 here, back with another little update from my Splinterlands journey. Today was a bit different from my usual ranked battles and Pit Challenges because I ended up having a friendly match against the pro player @bhattg.

It is always fun when you get matched up with someone you already know, because even though it is a friendly battle, you still want to give your best and see what happens on the battlefield. So, when I saw that I was going to face bhattg, I was like okay, let's have some fun with this one hehe.

This battle had some interesting rules, so I knew it was not going to be a simple fight. With 40 Mana available and two special modifiers active, both teams had plenty of chances to come back even after getting knocked out.

Battle Rules & Match Setup

Before entering the arena, here was what today's friendly battle looked like:

  • Opponent: Bhattg
  • Match Type: Friendly Challenge
  • Mana Cap: 40 Mana
  • Ruleset: Born Again
  • Ruleset: Eggceleration
  • Rounds: 5
  • Result: Victory
  • Rating: 0

The two rulesets made this battle very very interesting.

Born Again means every unit gets Rebirth and can resurrect once during the battle with 1 Health and 100% Armor. Basically, magic buffs and debuffs are reapplied after resurrection.

And Eggceleration, means every unit will get +1 to all stats at the end of each round.

In conclusion, two of us would keep getting stronger and having a second chance to revive ourselves. So, I don't know what was gonna happen next, like it can make a battle very unpredictable because just when you think a unit is finished, it can suddenly come alive.

We have to use 40 Mana, I had to be careful with my choices. I wanted a lineup that could survive the extra attacks from the opposite side and also make good use of the special rules.

My Lineup & Battle Strategy

For my team, I wanted choose my favourite Death lineup and focus on survivability.

My Team

  • Summoner: Thalgrimore (Debuffing enemy health right out of the gate)
  • Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee)
  • Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack)
  • Position 3: Sorrow Harvester (Magic)
  • Position 4: Vengeful Monk (Melee)
  • Position 5: Great Bear Druid (Magic + Melee)

I knew bhattg was not going to make it easy for me, specially because he is a professional player and I am clearly a noob, hehe. I already knew I was going to face a proper challenge and lose, lol.

The battle started and both sides immediately began exchanging attacks. The Born Again ruleset made things even more interesting because units were coming back after being defeated.

Instead of simply trying to destroy the enemy team as quickly as possible, I had to keep watching how the resurrected units were affecting the battle.

And then Eggceleration started making its impact too. As the rounds passed, the units became stronger and stronger because everyone was gaining +1 to all stats.

This made the fight feel like it was constantly changing. A unit that looked less dangerous in the beginning could become a much bigger threat later.

The battle went on for 5 rounds, and thankfully my lineup managed to stay ahead.

In the end, I managed to defeat bhattg and take the victory! πŸŽ‰

Post-Battle Thoughts

This was honestly a really fun match because it wasn't about gaining rating or rewards. It was a friendly match against someone I know. So, yeah I have also lost against him but I choose to post the one I have won, hehe.

The Born Again and Eggceleration rulesets was something new for me and I am not familiar with it but the battle was entertaining because of it. The resurrection mechanic gave the units another chance to fight, while the increasing stats made every round more important.

When I won a match against him, I was smiling a lot lol because I was happy about it. But to be honest, it was a friendly match and it was never about winning. But about enjoying ourselves rather than worrying about the result. I really don't mind losing against him.

@bhattg plays so good, so it was really nice to have a battle together. Hopefully we can have another friendly challenge soon and maybe next time he will get his revenge! ☺️

I played versus you tonight so many games and it was fun, when you realized that you have all the same cards like me even max levels.

That is awesome experience, when you have all playable cards like your friend and we played for fun 😁

Hehe yes, 😁 We played so many games tonight and it was really fun. The funniest part was realizing we have almost all the same cards. It made the whole thing feel like a proper friendly battle between two friends. Really enjoyed it. 😊

Ghost cards challenges are the best. You can have 0 cards and still have access to all cards for specific league.

So only skill matters and sometimes some luck 😏

I didn't played with my cards which are gold foils. All were replaced with ghost cards in regular foil with max possible level. So you can test everything you want!

And last matches were in wild league with all cards, old summoners included so a lot of fun playing with them. 😁😏
