72 Mana Mayhem: My Super Sneak Victory in Frontier Ranked Splinterlands

Hello people of Splinterlands! It's @zoe01 and today I would like to share another one of my recent Frontier Ranked battles. In my previous post, I shared a lower mana battle where I had to be careful with my choices because of the limited mana. This time, things were completely different because the battle gave us a huge 72 mana cap.

Big mana means more facilities and helpful to build a much stronger lineup and use more monsters, hehe. However, the ruleset made the battle interesting because we had Super Sneak, which means all units with a melee attack receive Sneak and will target the enemy monster in the last position. This is my first time playing with this ruleset and I was not very confident about it.

So, instead of choosing strong monsters, I thought maybe I should play with my usual lineup and I positioned them very well. I wanted to make sure my lineup could survive those attacks while also taking advantage of the same ability.

Battle Rules

  • Mana Cap: 72
  • Ruleset: Super Sneak
  • Available elements: Fire, dragon, Water, Earth, Life & Death

This was a very different battle compared to my previous one because of the 72 mana cap. There was enough mana to build a full team with several powerful monsters.

The main challenge was Super Sneak. Every monster with a melee attack could attack the last monster on the opposing side. This meant that the monster placed at the back was going to be extremely important.

There was no second or third modifier, so all my attention went toward building a lineup that could handle the Sneak attacks.

Choosing My Team

With such a high mana cap, I had plenty of room to choose my monsters. But I still didn't want to randomly fill all the available positions with expensive cards.

I wanted my lineup to have a good balance between damage and survival. Since the Super Sneak ruleset was active, I also paid special attention to the monsters at the back of my team because they were going to be targeted by enemy melee attackers.

My opponent had higher ratings which made me very thoughtful about my moves.

My Team

  • Summoner: Thalgrimore (Debuffing enemy health right out of the gate)
  • Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee)
  • Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack)
  • Position 3: Sorrow Harvester (Magic)
  • Position 4: Vengeful Monk (Melee)
  • Position 5: Great Bear Druid (Magic + Melee)
  • Position 6: Black Widow (Ranged attack)

I was quite happy with the lineup I created because I had enough mana to use a full team. The biggest thing I had to think about was the last position.

Because of Super Sneak, the backline was going to receive a lot of attention. I didn't want to place a weak monster there and allow my opponent to destroy it quickly.

My team also had a nice mixture of attack types. This gave me a better chance of dealing consistent damage instead of depending on only one type of attack.

Battle Highlights

My opponent's lineup it seemed like he knew what he was doing, so this was not going to be an easy battle to win. He had taken advantage of the high mana cap and brought a full team with strong monsters.

Both teams had several monsters, so I was curious to see which strategy would work better.

The Super Sneak ruleset made the battle even more interesting because attacks were not only focused on the frontline. The monsters at the back were also in danger, so positioning became a very important part of the battle.

As the first round started, I was happy to see my strategy working. My team was able to deal damage while also surviving the attacks coming toward my backline.

One thing I really liked about this battle was that neither side could simply ignore the Sneak effect. Every melee attacker had the ability to reach the last monster, so the battle quickly became a fight to see whose backline could survive longer.

Round after round, my lineup continued to hold together. My monsters kept attacking while my opponent slowly started losing important units.

I was specially happy because the battle wasn't decided immediately. It took 5 rounds before my team finally secured the victory.

That made the win feel much more satisfying. I had enough mana to build a strong team but choosing the right positions was still important because of the Super Sneak ruleset.

I couldn't believe my eyes because my team had won, it was a tough battle. As you can see I have got +20 rating and my final rating was 1,240.

The battle was for 5 rounds only and I was satisfied with my outcomes. My opponent had a rating of 1,560, so winning against him made the victory more fruitful.

Final Thoughts

This was another fun Frontier Ranked battle for me. 72 mana cap was the best thing for me in this match became I could use my strong monsters and make a strong team, but the Super Sneak ruleset made me think carefully about where I placed my monsters. I just went with my usual lineup of death element.

I think positioning was one of the most important parts of this battle. With melee monsters attacking from behind, I couldn't simply focus on making my frontline strong. I made sure my backline could survive long enough to continue helping the team.

I'm glad everything worked so well and I managed to win after 5 rounds. The +20 rating was also a nice reward, specially because it helped me reach 1,240 rating in Silver III.

After the battle, I also received +500 Sparks, from the daily spin. I always enjoy getting something extra after a good match, hehe.

Let's see how far can I get in Frontier Ranked battles and experimenting with different lineups. I hope that I can continue climbing and bring more interesting battles to share with you all.

Have you played a Super Sneak battle recently? How do you usually protect your backline when every melee attacker can target the last position? I'd love to hear your strategies in the comments!
