Good evening everyone, today I was playing Soulkeep, and I honestly didn't know this game is integrated into the same page as Splinterlands, and I honestly didn't know it even existed.
Well, for those who don't know yet, Soulkeep:
It's a tower defense game with auto-battler elements that uses Splinterlands NFT cards as towers, units, and spells. Players place these pieces along a path to prevent enemies from reaching the soul portal. The characteristics of these cards—their rarity, level, and even whether they're foil—directly affect their performance in combat, providing a strategic layer linked to the Web3 ecosystem.
So far so good, a good presentation and a good game interface, now I can't stand the music and it seems that the music doesn't suit the game, so the first thing I do is remove it.
Now I start looking in the game for information about the initial investment that must be made in order to win something, and searching I find this:
Now I start looking in-game for information about the initial investment required to win something, and I find this:
The reward scheme changed significantly in 2024: it's no longer enough to buy Nightmare Packs to earn SPS; you now earn SPS by playing, advancing through waves in tournaments, and betting SPS into the special $SOULKEEP account, thus earning a multiplier. This means that if you want to be in advanced leagues and beyond, you need to delegate substantial amounts of SPS—for example, 40,000—which creates a barrier for casual players.
And when I got almost to the end and read that I had to delegate 40,000 sps to be able to do anything in the game, this was my reaction.
Now I understand why I didn't know about this game nor have I seen any posts about it, meaning there are no players and if there are, they are few.
The first thing I want to say is that the game is very boring, but after playing it, you realize it's even more boring and that there isn't as much freedom to place towers as in other tower defense games, and that's honestly a pain. Another thing I mentioned above is that you need to stake a minimum of 40,000 SPS (or $288 at the current market price). But it doesn't stop there, since you can't play outside of the daily tournaments with such freedom. This alienates it from the casual audience and limits its appeal as a pure game.
Well, it's not all criticism, but it also has positive aspects:
In short, they're selling the dog collar before the dog, and that's why I think the game will have a very short life.
Well, that's all for today, and before I go, I want to thank user @honey-swap for the votes I'm getting, and all the other users who stopped by and read my post. Why wait for the Splinterlands curators? I'm still waiting for a response from some of them, and none of them have. Well, I'm done. Good night, everyone.
I think we just need some updates on this game
No matter how many updates they make, this game is dead.
I haven't played Soulkeep in ages, feels like they made the same mistakes as Splinterlands. You simply can't force players to play quite some time each day not to miss out on rewards with extreme pay2win mechanics.
I logged in agains since a while after seeing this post but it looks like Tournaments are not running anymore ?
For me this is a game that was advertised as the best, and when they already took enough money they abandoned it, for me this game is a fraud
