Vaynard86 Splinterlands Updates: Escalation Is Here (I am Late But I will Catch Up)

Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. Hope you are doing well this lovely day. It was such a busy season for me where I had numerous events back to back across many days which got me a little fatigue and end up I also didn't realize the mini set of Esclation is finally live until I met some of those cards on the battlefield.

Escalation Mini Set
If I am not wrong, Escalation is like how previously Riftwatchers set was to Chaos Legion and Escalation being a set to Conclave Arcana.

The set is rather interesting because the number of cards in each rarity is about the same, which means to say, there are way more legendary cards available for use.

The breakdown of the set is as follows:

12 Common cards

12 Rare cards

8 Epic cards

11 Legendary cards

These cards will be really shifting the current meta that we are used to when playing with just Rebellion and Conclave Arcana alone.

With the pre-sale there will be 2 promo cards that come with it. Unfortunately, because I missed the pre-sale, I will have to pick them up from the market. So remember, it is important to take part in pre-sale to get the most out of a new set release.

It's Not Over
Though pre-sale is over, the whole availability of packs is still there, so we are still in time to make purchases.

At my current point of writing, there is still more than 180k packs still available:

With 500k packs available at the start, the current balance of packs available suggest that this is quite a good take up even in the midst of so much uncertainty amongst us.

Each pack is priced at USD$5, payable in DEC, credits, SPS or USDC.

New Promo Cards

Both cards looks really good.

Doldrus comes with corrupted healing to sustain your full lineup, cleanse to remove the unwanted debuffs, and deflection shroud to protect adjacent cards from splash damage.

Portia Nyr looks awesome as well. 4 magic attack and also relentless strike which means void is gonna get punch through. She also has immunity to keep her alive from poison, painforge to enhance her stats when being burned or hurt by allies, and the craziest thing is that this card possess apex strike, striking the card with the highest power to ensure they are being "taken cared off" early.

Hopefully I can still pick out a copy of these from the market.

New Set, New Abilities*

This is crazy, 8 new abilities that comes with this new set. Loads of learning to be done for sure.

Apex Strike - Targets the enemy unit with the most Power

Bloodline Pact - Allied units that share this unit’s bloodline gain +1 Power when any of them defeats an enemy and take 1 true damage when any of them is defeated.
If this unit is defeated, allied units that share its bloodline take 2 damage and lose all Power gained from this ability

Bulwark - When in the first position, loses -2 Attack Power, gains +8 Health, and +8 Armor

Decoy - Draws attacks from enemy units with Snipe, Apex Strike, and Opportunity.
Does not affect enemy units in the first position

Determined - After missing an attack, makes a second attack against the same target.

Flame Fed - When Burning, instead of losing Health, gains +1 Health at the beginning of each round.

Reprisal - If an enemy unit deals more than 5 damage in a single round, it gains Taunt, and if camouflaged, is Revealed.

Shadow Focus - When in the last position, gains Camouflage, cannot attack, and all allied units gain +1 Power and Determined.

Looking at these new abilities, I am already excited to land my hands on some of the escalation cards. Some of these abilities really can change the fate of a match big time. I guess I will probably have to dive into each of these abilities one by one soon to understand how to use them to my advantage.

Wrap Up
I was too busy and miss out on the Escalation pre-sale. Some now it is catching up time to ensure my modern deck is still up to date, relevant and able to sustain within the modern gameplay. Not gonna be easy and with limited packs, I guess card prices would not come cheap. So definitely some form of investment is needed to strengthen my arsenal.
