Social Media Challenge - Debut For New Addition Giam Root In Frontier Mode

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. Today I will be doing a battle sharing on a new card that I just obtained recently through opening of Frontier Packs.

This new addition to my foundation card collection is the legendary earth splinter card Giam Root.

So let's take a look at this card before we go into the match itself.

This is a massive card that cost 9 mana, a gargantuan amount of health at 11 but only strikes for 1 damage at level 1. Ability wise, it has strengthen which gives the whole lineup 1 more health and in frontier mode when we use the earth archon, this card will start the match with 13 health. I would say this is one massive meat shield and will help us out well when we need something to outlast others such as earthquake, healed out or even noxious fumes.

After taking a quick look at the card itself, time to head on to the debut match proper.

Ruleset: Close Range and Earthquake
Mana Limit: 56

Selection Analysis
We have 3 splinters available for selection - Earth, Life and Death. Since I was attempting to try out Giam Root, I picked Earth Splinter and incidentally Earth is a good choice whenever we have "detonating" rulesets such as Earthquake or Noxious Fumes.

So here is my selection of the lineup. This match I will be using Aurelia, the foundation Earth splinter Archon which gives +1 health to all my cards. Leading the lineup will be Dread Tafarian which is able to heal every turn and definitely important in such a ruleset. Supporting it will be Mad Gearhead that strikes for 2 from the 2nd position and it has a decent health. In order create a barrier with the remaining cards, I placed Giam Root here in view of it becoming another tank upon reaching first position due to its crazily high health which can take alot more punishment. The next few cards are all range attackers and since it is close range ruleset, so they will not stop attacking even when at first position. They are Wilhelmdale Depty, Alan Muskateer and Kicking Roc. These 3 will be the bruisers for my lineup as they either hit hard or have double strike.

On my opponent end, we are almost looking like a mirror match, with my opponent have 4 cards that are identical to my lineup with 2 card different which is New Beluroc Aegis for the taunt to soak up all the damages from backline and Time Bandit which is a large health card with 1 magic attack. An interesting idea on the taunt which can actually allow less damage on his cards to slow down the effect of earthquake on his cards.

Nice idea by my opponent and with both lineups very close, this should be a close call and may the best lineup wins.

So let's get right on to the round by round synopsis.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Loads of damage flying towards my Dread Tarafian, think what my opponent did was a good idea for one card to take the damage. But thankfully before earthquake damage apply, my lineup is full in tact with only tank having more damage.

Round 2 - After earthquake damage applied, it didn't take long for my opponent to have my tank taken out with ease at only 1 damage as it couldn't heal in time. At the end of this turn, it looked like both side's Mad Gearhead will be next to fall under the earthquake.

Round 3 - Wow thing, indeed moved really fast with my cards swinging in all directions and clearing off card by card due to earthquake giving them an extra hand. One card to go and we are good!

Round 4 - After earthquake damage, we are left with scraps and my lineup just struck an killed an injured Time Bandit. Victory secured!

Battle Summary
At the end of the match, I checked that Giam Root still had 6 health there. So we can see that this card is amazing in earthquake rulseset and likely Noxian Fumes. I personally like how it can really outlast almost every card in the foundation set and at the same time help your remaining cards stay alive longer with strengthen. All in all a really good card!
