Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 22

image.png

Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you of you doing this lovely mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. We will continue looking into the foundation cards as these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. I have been tracking my foundation collection and I am down to the last handful of cards that had been elusive that I have yet to get hold of to max them. And some of those that I already maxed are doing really well even in standard modern battles.

For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.

Foundation Set Cards

For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.

New Beluroc Aegis

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, New Beluroc Aegis. After clearing all the coloured splinter, we are finally at the neutrals. And this particular card is the only taunt card in the foundation set, making it a very important utility card for this set of cards. Taunt is a very important ability that help divert attack away from key card and this does exactly that. Not the fanciest of stats but good enough to do its duty of diversion.

In terms of growth for this card, there is no increase in damage and it is stuck at 1 even at max level. However the significant changes come in the health and armour of this card which will enable a stronger purpose of taunting and ensuring it can survive sufficiently in place of key cards.

In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 2.5/5. This is a utility card but in terms of stat growth, it is a pity that only the health and armour saw scaling. Nonetheless, this card is useful but definitely there will be better options in the main sets that have a much better stat scaling.

Grand Consul Minion

Now let's look at another card from death splinter, Grand Consul Minion. A low mana range attacker that is relatively fast. Other than that, just something very average and probably be used as a filler when there is some mana left that is un-used.

In terms of growth for this card, there is only increase seen in speed and health. But the scaling is a little minimal and nothing to wow at.

In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 1.8 out of 5. This card is a little high on mana for what it is delivering. Not a card that will bring you amazing results but could come in handy at times if there is additional mana to spare or all range attackers only match up. Way more options in main sets and definitely not something that we will bring to modern matches.

Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

I use Aegis a lot of the time, and find him really useful in Modern. Especially in conjunction with my death teams. The minion is a card I've never liked, but it has it's uses at times. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it isn't useful! lol
