Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you of you doing this lovely mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. I already had many encounters with cards from escalation and those cards really starting to gain some traction and definitely doing changes to the meta. But that is for another day. We will continue looking into the foundation cards as these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. I play whenever I can and still trying my best to get the cards to be maxed.
For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.
Foundation Set Cards
For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.
Moros Malick

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Moros Malick. This card from the way I look, it will only be having way more value when maxed because that is where the 2nd range attack comes about. Prior to that, 1 range attack with opportunity is not going to make you win all your matches.
In terms of growth for this card, the growth that it gets starts from speed, health and finally that 2nd range attack. But I have to say, the stats for this card is a little on the low side for 6 mana.
In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 2/5. Most of the time as we see this card and slowly collect to get it levelled up, it will be mostly a bystander and have difficulty squeezing into a lineup because of its stat and possibly other cards that can do better here. A guaranteed starting spot will probably come in the range only ruleset.
Lenore Nevermore

Now let's look at a card from death splinter, Lenore Nevermore. Very good for reverse speed because it has low speed and at most get to 2 speed at max. This card also has a very thick health and have 2 range attack right from the start. The snipe is great as it can help take out tough cards on opponent side with the snipe with the 2 damage.
In terms of growth for this card, there is not much but it is already at 2 attack at level 1 which is awesome. The main growth came in the health which will help this card survive longer in play and doing damage to key cards.
In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 2.7 out of 5. Imagine I have 6 mana, would I chose this or Moros Malick, I would pick this any day because of the much better health this card has and the 2 attack right from the start even not maxed. A simple fuss free card that can be rather instrumental in the match. While speed is low is the main weakpoint, this card will shine in reverse speed.
Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

I haven't started my journey in Splinterlands yet, but analyses like this from part 20 really help me understand the strategy before taking the first step. It became very clear to me that Lenore Nevermore is a better option to start with because of its 2 attack. Thanks for educating those of us who haven't entered the game yet!
Lenore seems like a good card to have in the stack.
