Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 18

Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you this lovely Friday and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. I already had many encounters with cards from escalation and those cards really starting to gain some traction and definitely doing changes to the meta. But that is for another day. We will continue looking into the foundation cards as these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. I am still waiting for more copies of Mystic Scaleweaver and Saltwater Mage to level them up, unfortunately, no signs of them.

For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.

Foundation Set Cards

For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.

Nim Guard Captain

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Nim Guard Captain. For a common card, I personally think this is awesome because of the void ability. Do not underestimate this ability because in foundation, many will try to capitalize the magic attack advantage in water splinter and zap through lineups with ease. With this card, every magic attack on it has reduced effectiveness. And this becomes the key to victory.

In terms of growth for this card, we see growth in health and armour which is a very important to help this card resist the magic bombardment and allowing your backline to strike and gain traction. Decent growth and very effective.

In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 3/5. One of the better and usable cards in the set. The void is such an important ability which can really hamper the progress of magic attacking lineups.

Spinetail Fiend

Now let's look at a card from death splinter, Spinetail Fiend. This card's utility is a little poorer. The best it to hide this card w with flanking ability so that when time to come, Very nice attacking power but equally squishy, should not put at front. However, when melee mayhem is around, that is a different story. This card will become that sabre hiding in the fear and smashing opponent lineup hard with 3 damage.

In terms of growth for this card, every stat improved and the 3 damage only comes at max level. Health and speed also increased gradually. A nice and simple card to level up.

In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 2.2 out of 5. With no ability, even with high damage, it will most likely be a sitting duck but when we do have rulesets that alter the ability smash others through opportunity or sneak, it will definitely hit hard and be a menace to your opponent. But do not pin too high hopes as there are so many different ruleset nowadays.

Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
