Adapting to Modern: Learning Integrating Foundation Cards Into Your Battles Part 16

Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you this lovely midweek and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern and boy have we came a long way with this series. I am really excited with the launch of Escalation set and looking forward to seeing them on the battle field. We will continue looking into the foundation cards as these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. There are some foundation cards that are so elusive till date for me and I hope to obtain them soon.

For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.

Foundation Set Cards

For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.

Wild Horse Tamer

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Wild Horse Tamer. This card has really decent stats right at level 1 and will come in handy when you need more range attackers. However, the sad thing about this card is that there is no other ability given to her which is a bummer. Something like a snipe would have been really awesome considering that this card does not come with armour. Otherwise, this would have been an even better card to use.

In terms of growth for this card, the main stat that got scaled will be health and only towards the end then it gets a speed improvement. A fuss free card with simple stat growth.

In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 2.7/5. While it is does have a very strong stat line, this card is just raw attack with no other abilities. Great for beatdown but when rulesets become a little more complex, this card will find it harder to survive because of the lack of armour or other kinds of abilities to gain advantage.

Lady Amara

Now let's look at a card from life splinter, Lady Amara. A decent card but for the stat it has, I would have thought that this would be of 5 mana card than a 6 mana card. So while it is an elf which will have plenty of synergy with the elf bloodline cards, the only issue I have is that for 6 mana, it doesn't have an increased magic attack and it has a very slow speed. And another thing is that, this again is a card without abilities.

The growth for this card is similar to that of Wild Horse Tamer. No increase in attack but we do see in crease in health and also at max 1 more speed.

In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 2.8 out of 5. I gave it a slightly better score than Wild Horse Tamer due to synergy with elves, otherwise, they are rather similar, will suffer to more complex rulesets. A flying on this would have been made it even better.

Both of today's cards are pure stats cards which I thought could have a little more abilities built in to make them better. Viable to use but will fall short to main set cards.

Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.

While not fantastic, they are still good cards to use when you need them.
