Prelude
Greeting to all, how are you this lovely midweek and having a great start to the year of the horse. Welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern and we are coming into the 15th post for the foundation cards. With the launch of the foundation card set, it is evident that these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle and truly I use them in my ranked battles. There are some foundation cards that are so elusive and I hope to obtain them soon.
For me, these foundations cards are important because they give newcomers a decent push to strengthen and expand their collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or through other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy cards off the market that can truly elevate their lineup in ranked battles. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.
Foundation Set Cards
For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.
Paprikash

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Paprikash. This is a card that I use rather often especially when we need loads of melee attackers. So for this card, no questions ask, you need to get this card to level 2 as soon as possible. Reason being that without going to level 2, this card just will not make the cut. No reach, then it has to come at first position. and it doesn't really have better stats that the other tank for life splinter that I introduced the other day. And best is for this card to get to minimal level 3 to be giving you good advantage. With a 2 melee attack, even when there is shield ruleset or tanks with shield, it can still bruise the other card without exposing itself.
In terms of growth for this card, scaling is decent on armour and health and also on attack. As mentioned in the earlier paragraph, this card usable point will be at level 3 when it obtains its 2nd melee attack. I would wish it had more health but it is what it is.
In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 2.4/5. While it is great for hiding behind other cards using reach to strike, the 3-4 health that it gets upon max is less than desirable and genuinely squishy. Otherwise, I would say this is a decent card to use and get it levelled up quickly.
Sherringham Logger

Now let's look at a card from life splinter, Sherringham Logger. Another interesting card that has decent health and most importantly sneak from level 1. Personally I like this card quite abit because it already has 2 melee and sneak right at level 1 which is a super plus point and most certainly a card that will appear in your lineup when using life splinter. This card helps you clear off all the nasty backline before your frontline gets too much damage.
The growth for this card is rather decent on stats other than attack. More speed, more armour and more health. I think this will help it scale well and become more balanced as it levels up Nice curve and gets stronger defensively.
In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 2.7 out of 5. I gave this a better score than Paprikash because of the fact of it being already very useful at level 1 and continue to grow stronger and have higher sustainability. If able to become 3 melee attack, it would be really awesome, but at 2 attack, I am satisfied with the card.
Wrap Up
Though most of the foundation cards need a little more mana that cards from the main sets, when they come into the matches, they help to fill mana gaps in our collection that we are lacking or when there is just this odd mana or two that you cannot field anything. Be sure to make full use of them, synergize them with your other cards from the main sets or reward cards, make them viable and win matches so as to earn more glint as we continue building up our collection. Do also take note of the bloodline to see how you are able to get them some boost from their fellow bloodline cards as well. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these foundation cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles as they grow and affirm the footing on Splinterlands.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
