Splinterlands: Unlocked Tier 2 of the Gold League just before the season ended!šŸ”„

I remember unlocking the Gold League just four or five days into the season; I struggled in that same tier for the remainder of the season, somehow remaining stuck in that range. Then, with less than an hour left before the season ended, I won a few consecutive battles and finally moved from Gold League Tier 3 to Tier 2. As a result, when the rankings reset for the new season, I am starting at Silver 1. Had I ended the season in Gold 3, the post-reset ranking would have placed me at a rating of 1400, which corresponds to Silver League Tier 2. The only real difference is that playing in a lower league somewhat reduces your in-game rewards, whereas improving your ranking leads to better rewards.

Just like other rewards, as you improve your ranking and unlock new tiers, you receive "welcome rewards" for that tier; for instance, upon unlocking Tier 2 of the Gold League, I received 8 Minor Chests and 5 Major Chests. The names suggest a significant difference between the two types of chests—and internally, there might well be one—but in my experience, there isn't much of a noticeable difference in the rewards they yield. Perhaps in the future, if I ever win "Ultimate Chests," the rewards will be truly ultimate as well. To open these 13 chests (8 Minor + 5 Major), I used 13 Legendary Potions and 13 Alchemy Potions, hoping that the magic of at least one of them would work. Of course, this hope often goes unfulfilled, but persistence eventually leads to success.

From the Minor Chests, I received three Alchemy Potions in return, along with a common scroll and approximately 250 Merits that will contribute toward collecting cards for the Gladiator set. Additionally, I obtained two cards from these chests—both of common rarity, yet both are cards I use extensively. Among them, the Water element's common melee attack card, 'Surgeblade,' is already upgraded to Level 3 in my deck; this has boosted its attack power from 2 to 3 and added a new 'Reveal' ability that exposes a 'Camouflage' card each round, making the revealed card vulnerable to attacks just like any other. The second card—the Death element's melee attacker 'Thornmaw Berserker'—is upgraded to Level 2, unlocking the 'Final Rest' ability; this ability can be used once per game to neutralize enemy card abilities such as Rebirth, Resurrect, and Resurgence.

From the major chests, I received two rare scrolls, one common scroll, around 500 Marits, and a rare card—though it’s actually extremely basic, even more so than common cards, yet it is technically classified as rare. Anyway, looking at the rewards from these major chests, one can distinguish them from minor chests; the difference is slight, but it exists and cannot be ignored. However, there are times when you simply can't fathom why a major chest would yield such odd and useless rewards. So, while the rewards look promising this time around, in my experience, you shouldn't let the allure of these chests blind you; I’d suggest simply enjoying the process without setting high expectations—that way, whatever you do get will feel like a pleasant bonus.

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!šŸ”„
