Splinterlands: Purchased my first Wild Pass; now this season is going to be wild!🔥

I had been looking forward to playing in Wild mode for a long time—pretty much since I first joined Splinterlands. Initially, it was just out of excitement, but once I realized that Wild mode—true to its name—is where most of the pro players compete, I decided it was best to stick to Modern mode for the time being. I waited until I felt ready for Wild. That moment hasn't fully arrived yet, but based on suggestions from some fellow players, I decided to give Wild mode a try this new season. After all, it only costs a few thousand DEC; I figured I’d just see how it goes. So, late last night, I finally purchased the Wild Pass for 2,000 DEC. This pass is valid for only one season, meaning if I want to play Wild mode again next season, I’ll have to spend another 2,000 DEC. But that’s not the only expense involved; since Wild mode allows you to summon cards from all Splinterlands sets, I needed to add some powerful warriors to my deck. I don't currently own cards above Level 3—nor do I have cards from sets released prior to Arcana and Rebellion—so adding higher-level cards to my deck was crucial. All in all, I’ve spent around 4,000 DEC, and now I have to see how much of that investment I can recoup over the course of the season.

Well, I started my Wild Battle journey in Bronze II with a ranking of 500—I’m not sure why—but feeling a bit nervous, I clicked the battle button and began my first match. With a 64-mana cap, all elements were playable. My opponent had a Level 8 Archon, while I only had a Level 1; however, thanks to @davemccoy , I already possessed some awesome cards, so I placed two of them at the front of my lineup. Additionally, I rented multiple Level 6 and max level cards for this wild mode, one of them Fire element melee card—the Molten Ogre—from the Essence Orb set and placed it in the third spot. However, when renting the cards, I hadn't realized that maximizing their potential required having Archons of a matching level; consequently, I could only use the Molten Ogre at Level 3 during this battle. The card in the third spot and the one in the last position weren't in a situation to attack—obviously, because they lacked abilities like Charge, Opportunity, or Sneak—but they still served a purpose: the Molten Ogre demoralized the enemy team, while the card in the final position acted as a shield to protect my other attackers from enemy cards with the Sneak ability. I placed a card with the Sneak ability in the middle of the lineup and positioned the magic attack card Caladuum (from the Dice set) in the second-to-last spot, completing my team.

For the Archon's 'Double Strike' and 'Swiftness' abilities, I chose the 'Blue Wyrm Travesty'; since it was the most powerful card in my lineup, it stood to gain the most from 'Double Strike'. Honestly, apart from the opponent's Level 8 Archon, I felt the rest of their cards could have been much better—I mean, if you're using a Level 8 Archon, the accompanying cards really ought to be exceptionally powerful too. However, one reason for this might be that it was a Bronze League battle, so perhaps it wasn't intentionally made too difficult. Regardless, I won the battle easily, and I also realized that I had made a bit of a mistake by rushing to rent cards; I now have several cards that I have no real use for, and I can't utilize the ones that are useful unless I also have Archons of the corresponding level. So, today I need to add some more practical cards alongside the Archons, and that’s when the real fun of Wild battles will likely begin.

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥
