Splinterlands: My simple strategy for battles under the 'Camouflage' ruleset!🔥

The specific cards used can vary from player to player, as everyone’s deck is likely to contain different cards. Therefore, rather than focusing on the exact cards I used, I will discuss the strategy and planning behind my summoning choices—as this is the most crucial aspect, serving as a repeatable "formula" that can be applied in similar situations. Take a look at the battle in the screenshot above. This particular match had a 24-mana cap and featured the "Camouflage" ruleset. (Although there was an additional ruleset that restricted the use of ranged-attack cards, my goal here is not just to provide a solution for this specific battle, but to share a broader formula.) Consequently, our focus should be on how to leverage the "Camouflage" ruleset to our greatest possible advantage.

First, understand the ruleset. The 'Camouflage' ability ensures that cards positioned behind the frontline cannot be directly targeted; since every card possesses this ability, an attack is only possible if a card is currently in the frontline position. Based on this, I realized that my strongest attacking card should be placed in the last position—ideally one with a magic attack, as magic attacks bypass armor and strike directly at health. Even though my most powerful magic-attacking card has low health, placing it at the very end of the lineup is safe, because in this specific battle, the 'Camouflage' ability will protect it. Don't get hung up on the specific names of the cards; instead, focus on the underlying strategy: place your strongest cards—preferably with magic attack type—at the very back of your lineup.

Now, moving to the next part of the strategy: after offense, we must also focus on defense—specifically for battles with the 'Camouflage' ruleset. Look for low-mana-cost cards that possess enough health and armor to hold off the enemy for at least 1–2 rounds. I’ve placed the 'Halfling Refugee' at the very front; it costs only 1 mana—an important consideration, as the mana cap in this battle is quite low, making efficient mana usage essential. Remember, focus on the card's role rather than its name. In the first and second positions on the front line, place cards that—even if they aren't particularly lethal or skilled at attacking—can defend effectively. The longer these cards remain on the battlefield, the more time they provide for your back-line cards to perform at their absolute best.

Just as I did—by granting my cards the 'Ambush' ability to establish dominance right from the start—you should also look for cards or effects in your own deck that can either grant the 'Ambush' ability to your cards or boost the speed of all your cards (or at least your most powerful ones). Doing this will allow you to maintain an upper hand over your opponent from the very beginning. Furthermore, speed should never be underestimated; it’s not uncommon for even your most formidable cards to lose to a relatively weaker one simply because they lack sufficient speed. Therefore, it is crucial to leverage your cards effectively—prioritizing high attack power (using magic, if possible), superior-than-average speed, and the 'Ambush' ability to your advantage. Once you grasp this formula, you’ll be able to construct a strong team with any type of deck. While victory may not be guaranteed, you will certainly be able to give your opponent a tough challenge.

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥
