Just yesterday, I unlocked the Gold League for the very first time. Since I had finally achieved this milestone only after numerous previous attempts, I initially thought I wouldn't play any further this season, as I certainly didn't want to end the season by dropping below this ranking tier. However, with three days still remaining in the current season, it was simply impossible for me to go that long without playing Splinterlands. Consequently—after taking a one-day break yesterday—I mustered the courage today to play my very first battle in the Gold League. Thankfully, I actually won the battle; however, it got off to a rather hopeless start. The moment we entered the battleground, the game inexplicably froze; by the time everything started working again, the window to assign the Archon's special powers to my cards had already elapsed. As a result, I was unable to capitalize on the major strategic advantage that comes with selecting this highly expensive Dragon Archon.

Although the "Equalizer" ruleset ensured that the cards from both teams entered the battle with identical health, the decisive factors here became Armor and Attack Power. However, since the enemy lineup consisted primarily of magic attackers, I faced significant pressure—a reality that became evident in the very first round, as even my heavy tank was knocked out almost simultaneously with the enemy's comparatively lighter tank. This constituted a setback, given that the enemy's abundance of magic attackers allowed them to launch back-to-back assaults on my cards; nevertheless, my team's ranged attacker—the "Magnificent Mollusk"—managed to inflict heavy damage upon the enemy. It was during this battle that I tested the "Final Rest" ability of one of my cards for the very first time; it functioned perfectly against the card positioned at the rear of the enemy's lineup. Although that specific card—being a ranged attacker—was unable to perform any attacks even after being "reborn," this engagement served as an excellent opportunity to test the ability, and I can now utilize this card much more effectively and strategically in future battles.

The enemy team wasn't wiped out exactly as depicted in the screenshot above—since some of my own cards were knocked out in the process—but the result of this battle remains the same: although I wasn't able to fully execute my entire strategy, I won this first battle of the Gold League. Now, I will likely be able to play battles more consistently, as my sole goal for the moment is to finish this season within the Gold League. And yes, a guildmate advised that if I increase my SPS stake, I will be able to earn even better rewards in these battles; so, hopefully, I will be purchasing some SPS in the near future.😎
