This post focuses on a recent Brawl Battle of mine, in which I teamed up with the legendary Archon Elias Max Pruitt. Since this is a Rebellion Archon, it allows for the summoning of cards from not just one, but two distinct elements; specifically, this Archon supports the Water and Life elements. Under normal circumstances, I would have the freedom to choose cards from either of these two elements; however, in this particular battle, only one element was available, so I built my team accordingly. Until now, whenever I utilised this Archon's powers, I typically selected the Armored Strike and Piercing abilities to buff the cards positioned in my second line of defence. This time, however, I tweaked my strategy slightly and assigned these two powers to the Doomshield Warden—the tank standing at the very front of my lineup. I did this primarily because the Armored Strike ability grants a card the capacity to execute an additional attack equal to its remaining armor points, and I felt that the Doomshield Warden was the absolute best choice to effectively leverage that specific advantage.

I witnessed the impact of this strategy right in the very first round. This attack—executed by my most powerful attacker, the Blue Wyrm Travesty—was particularly potent because the card's base armor value of 7 was boosted to 8 by the +1 armor bonus received from the Archon. Furthermore, due to the "Deflection Field" ruleset being active in this battle, the card's "Relentless Strike" ability was also triggered; this granted it the power to attack enemies possessing the Deflection Field ability with an additional +1 power. This was an excellent strategic move; utilising the specific ruleset to your advantage can certainly provide you with a decisive edge in battle. In this instance, since the Deflection Field was a battle-wide ruleset, it meant that every card on the field possessed that ability; consequently, as long as the Doomshield Warden remained on the battlefield, it would inflict an additional +1 damage to the enemy with every single attack.

It is important to note that this strategy will remain effective only as long as this card is not knocked out and its armor remains intact; as its armor diminishes, the potency of "Armored Strike" will also decline, since the attack power of this ability is directly proportional to the amount of remaining armor. Therefore, the optimal approach is to assign this ability to a card positioned in the middle of your lineup—specifically, a card possessing an armor value that exceeds its health points. By occupying a central position in the lineup, the card remains relatively protected for several rounds, thereby enabling it to execute powerful attacks over an extended period. This will be a great strategy, and I will certainly give it a try next time.
