Splinterlands: Captain Frankie surprised me!🔥

(edited)

I've recently talked about Captain Frankie three times: the first time was when I saw him in a battle against me for the first time, and I lost that battle badly; the second time was when, obviously impressed by him, I rented him for testing purposes with the intention of purchasing him; and the third time was when I felt he had let me down because his abilities clearly state that he only grants the Inspire ability to cards within his own bloodline, and cards from his bloodline aren't available anywhere on the market.

That's what I explained in my previous blog. I was impressed by this Archon because, in that first meeting, to defeat me, he granted the Inspire ability to every card in his team. This triggered a chain reaction where each card's Inspire ability activated, granting +1 melee power, and before I knew it, every melee card on his team had several times more attack power than their initial attack power. In the dazzling display of this mind-blowing power, I completely overlooked the fact that this power would only be granted to cards of his same bloodline, and there were no cards of that same bloodline available in the market.

But yesterday, for a battle, I randomly chose Captain Frankie, and during team building, I noticed that some specific cards were appearing in a frame-like shape. I didn't know what that meant at the time, so I selected a few of those cards and built a team. And then, what happened when I reached the battlefield was something I could never have imagined.

Well, to witness that unimaginable magic and its impact, you'll have to watch the entire battle, but for a glimpse of it, you can look at the two screenshots of the battlefield shown above. I don't think you'll need to pay much attention to understand the difference between the two.

My melee Attacker's attack power increased by +3 because Captain Frankie granted the Inspire ability to 3 cards. But the puzzling thing is, how did this happen when I didn't add any cards from his Bloodline? Well, for that, you'll have to look at the first image in this blog again. Captain Frankie belongs to the Awakened Beast Bloodline, and it's true that there are no cards from that Bloodline available in the market. So what's wrong? Well, the problem is my stupidity, because in my overexcitement, I misunderstood the basic rule of Bloodline Dominion and didn't read the full details of this card. Under Captain Frankie's powers, it clearly states under Bloodline Dominion that "Units of the following bloodlines can be summoned from any element," and the following bloodlines listed are Rodantian and Tideborn, which are not Captain Frankie's Bloodline. However, he still considers them part of his family tree, and therefore, he shares his special power with these two bloodlines.

So, during team selection, the cards that appear in a frame-like shape are the cards that complement this Archon, or you could say they are the cards that are the best companions for an Archon, or the cards that an Archon can directly empower. These cards are displayed separately in a frame. This is probably a new update to make the game easier for new and, well, stupid players like me. Because now, even if you haven't read the details properly, you'll get a hint about which cards will work best with your chosen Archon.

To find out the outcome of this battle, enjoy watching it till the end, and I'm going to start saving up to buy Captain Frankie!😎

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥

These new bloodline rules were a little hard to follow for me to at the start too but if you read the descriptions carefully and think about the theme of the summoner it makes sense 😉

I'm not sure why they specify the bloodline of the summoner too because it's quite confusing and doesn't really matter right now.. but maybe in the future there'll be new abilities that will make that aspect important for battles, who knows..
