While browsing through Splinterlands yesterday, I navigated from the market menu to the packs section and discovered the Foundation Pack. You might wonder why I needed it; well, as I mentioned just yesterday, you can earn up to nine cards from the Foundation set simply by completing three daily challenges—something I do myself. However, lately, I’ve noticed opponents using cards from the Foundation "Extras" set, which are far more powerful than the basic Foundation starter cards. You certainly can't compete against those cards using the basic ones, so I was looking for a way to add these "Extras" cards to my deck. That search led me to the packs section of the market, where I found a Foundation pack and bought it without much thought—though, in hindsight, perhaps I should have given it a bit more consideration.

The price of a single pack was 0.037 USD; since I could get one for slightly more than 113 DEC, I went ahead and purchased two packs for which I paid 226.234 DEC. It was clearly stated on the packs page that the Foundations set consists of 53 cards including all rarity and every element. And this 1 foundation pack contains 5 random cards, with no Gold Arcane or Black Foils included. However, I still kept all my potions active because I thought the disclaimer might have been there simply to establish the baseline expectations for a pack—meaning that using potions could potentially alter the outcome.

And perhaps that thought was right, because I pulled a gold foil card from one of the packs—which, by the way, was a common card with no significant value. However, I also pulled two rare cards; one of them, a Life element card, is actually quite useful to me. That said, in terms of actual usage, I mostly rely on Water's Port Guardian, Fire's Frankasgard, Gray's New Beluroc Aegis, and Earth's Wilhelmdel Deputy and Dread Tafarian. Since this set doesn't offer a vast array of options requiring complex strategy, I’m still able to build a solid team using the cards available to me. On top of that, I have the Water element Archon, Marlai Singariel, upgraded to the max level—a purchase I funded entirely out of my own pocket. Now, as I acquire better cards and level them up, I can fully utilize their capabilities; therefore, it is crucial to level up your Archons alongside your cards—otherwise, you won't be able to use your highest-level cards, even if you wanted to.
