Splinterlands: Vethos Spineclaw, A Great Addition to My Rodent Team

Happy Monday everyone! Today I decided to throw together a Splinterlands post. I recently added a new card which I am really enjoying, it's called Vethos Spineclaw. It's made my rodentian team much stronger, and my win rate has increased dramatically!

This card is a dual water/earth splinter card making it much more useful and is a rare card as well. At level one he has Apex Strike attacking the opponent's card with the most power. At level four he picks up Bloodline Pact, and level five his melee attack increases. Then at level seven he picks up Deflect, and level eight he picks up an additional melee attack. That's going to be used more in Diamond and Champion I suspect, outside of my level of play. I usually stick to gold.

It's a great card, and if you play a rodent team like I do, it's a must have! Right along with Skritka! It has been a real game changer for me!

On a fun note, I did win a black foil card in the Frontier weekly draw. A max copy of Kanaaq Miner. He's a very useful card in Frontier, but not much outside in Modern. So I decided to list him for sale and stick with my gold foil copy. But always exciting to win a free black foil!

And my end of season review, not too bad, I got a lot of glint bonus which was nice. I picked up three legendary cards which were all upgraded. So worthwhile!

Now onto the action:

This is a screenshot of the battle after the buffs are applied but before the action has started. It a Modern battle with a mana cap of 94, so there are many possibilities to use. The rules are Brute Force, meaning units with the highest power attack first, and Healed Out, meaning no healing can take place.

I chose Captain Frankie as my archon for the stacked Inspire of my melee units. He also grants Pierce and True Strike to two units on my team. Fist up I placed a Bloodline Tribute card to sacrifice that strengthens the stats of all rodentian cards on the team, which will be all of them. This card is the Saltwraith Pirate followed by my tank Nim Guard Captain in black foil. I then placed Vicious Quilliun followed by the star of the day Vethos Spineclaw. To round off the the team I used Skritka and Kervic. Every single card is melee and rodentian.

My opponent used Marlai Singariel which grants one extra magic attack to magic units on the team. They also used a Bloodline Tribute with Wailsworn Specter followed by tank Ulundin Overseer. Next up they had Mindless Thrall followed by Shock Trooper. To finish up the team they put Mystic Scaleweaver and Portia Nyr. The Thrall and Portia are boosted by the Bloodline Tribute.

First blood is drawn with a one shot kill by Kervic taking out Portia Nyr.

Vicious Quilliun one shot kills Shock Trooper.

Near the end of round one it's pretty much over...

In round two Vethos Spineclaw takes out the Mindless Thrall.

And the final deathblow is delivered by Vicious Quilliun. Great game to my opponent. The legendary archon was just tooo much for Marlai to overcome, and my strong rodent team is hard to beat when each hit is nine to ten melee power. I'm really enjoying having Vethos Spineclaw, it's made a big difference in my Rodentian teams. It's a great card!
