This morning I woke up and realized it was already Sunday. Amazing how time can fly by so quickly, it seems like it was just last Sunday. At least it was a productive week! Today I had been pondering what to share here on Hive, when I am busy I always struggle to come up with fresh ideas. I don't like to recycle ideas or material, and while playing Splinterlands recently I found a great idea.
Recently in Modern they have brought in a new ruleset that I am seeing more and more. To be honest, I am loving it! It's called Outsider, allowing you to bring in a card from the old edition cards and use it in your matches in Modern. So today I wanted to talk about one of my old favorites, the Flesh Golem! But first, I had a nice surprise this morning while playing:

I'm already playing in gold in Modern, the rewards are much better, so it felt great to move up a league!
Back to the Flesh Golem. This was a card from the Beta packs way before I was introduced to the game at the end of Untamed and prior to Chaos. I quickly learned that this combined with a Llama archon was a deadly combination and invested in both. Since then I have sold both off, but I do rent them as they are very inexpensive.

This tough card is only six mana and at at level three picks up self heal. Then at the next level his melee attack increases to three. At level seven it picks up Void decreasing damage by magic by fifty percent. And level eight the melee attack goes up to four, one tough monster to deal with when properly placed! Yes, newer edition cards do have better abilities, to be honest, but the six mana makes him very useful in low mana cap battles.
Recently, I found just such a match. I knew using him would make life very difficult for my opponent. So I didn't hesitate to throw in one of my favorite old cards!

So here I go using the good old Flesh Golem in Modern!
To see the complete battle please feel free to click this link here.

First off, this is a battle in Modern with a mana cap of 13. The rulesets are Outsider and Melee Mayhem, meaning you can bring in one monster from the old wild editions into your team and melee monsters can attack from any position. This mana cap being as low as it is really does limit your options, but it immediately brought one particular monster to my mind. The good old Flesh Golem!
For my archon I chose Aurelia, which gives one additional health to all members of the team. My tank was Halfling Refugee with only one mana required, what a great card with self heal! Next I brought in the real star of the show, the Flesh Golem. And I finished off with Tilly Gearspring!
My opponent is a very talented player and brought in a nasty archon, Elowen Sylphia. This archon can give Bloodline Dominion or Charge to all your cards. In this case Charge was chosen so melee cards can attack from any position. Additionally, all units get Resurgence which means they self resurrect if they are killed with full armor and health. Fortunately, only one time each! They also get Trample which allows them to attack the next monster on your team if they kill one. One nice archon! For a tank they chose Ironwing Juggernaut followed by Taye Loreswift, and rounding out with Tilly Gearspring just like me!
When I saw this team I knew right away it would be a long battle for a low mana situation, but I definitely had the upper hand!

By round two my opponent's Tilly Gearspring went first and took out mine...

Then I finally manage to defeat the opponent's tank!

But thanks to Resurgence it's back... How annoying!

Round three and we're down to two on two.

That quickly changes leaving me with only my good old reliable Flesh Golem!

Round four we are down to one on one.

And I take out the last opponent, but...

Resurgence once again comes back to steal my victory!

Round five and more of the same, but things aren't looking good for my opponent!

Round six things only get worse as the armor is finally gone.

And a final death blow is finally delivered and my Flesh Golem is still at full health. What an awesome card!
Great game to my opponent! It really is tough to beat a Flesh Golem, which is why I was so excited to finally get to use it outside of brawls. This is a great card and can be serious challenge to deal with. If you don't own one they aren't expensive to rent, but well worth it in both brawls and Outsider!

Usually I like to do some pack openings, but to be completely honest, all of them have been very lack luster lately. However, I did get something rather exciting in a bunch of rare cards I recently bought with glint!

Grove Doomblade is always a welcome card!

But here it got exciting, a gold foil Mindless Thrall! Pulling gold foils here is a rarity to be savored!

All useful to level up current cards.

And the same here!
But the gold foil was really exiting, best of all they aren't soul bound making it easier to sell if you choose to do so. In this case I didn't, I took profits from card sales and bought a second copy making it a level three. It's now my go to, and my regular foil will be going up for sale! I love getting a nice pull like this every now and again!
If you don't yet play Splinterlands, it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will do in for me this Sunday, I do hope you enjoyed seeing the good old Flesh Golem back in action! Please feel free to leave and comments or questions below, and as always thank you for all of your support. It really is greatly appreciated. Have a great day everyone!
