Splinterlands: The Return of Kron The Undying

Way back in the Untamed era of Splinterlands, when I first joined the game, there was a nasty combo of cards known as Llama/Kron. This consisted of the archon Scarred Llama and Kron The Undying, that put Kron in a last stand mode with ridiculously high health, speed, and magic attack. If you could afford the cards (which most couldn't) you were unstoppable in Bronze/Silver.

Then the game split into Modern and Wild, and Kron fell into the wild west. However, with the Outsider ruleset in Modern, I have been able to use him again and it's been a lot of fun!

Kron The Undying is a legendary card with self heal from level one, high health, and high magic attack. At level two he picks up Divine Shield so the first attack on him is ignored completely. Then at level three he picks up Last Stand making him terrifying as the last card standing. At level four he picks up an extra magic attack, with an attack of four magic per turn. This card is an absolute beast from the Untamed era!

He is still very useful in Wild, and when you see a mana of 17 in a match you can almost expect a Llama/Kron combo when earth splinter is available, at least in bronze/silver. In gold and up there are some decent counters that work well against it. But it's been fun to finally use this in Modern, and I know many newer players have only run into him in brawls up until now!

Before I get into a battle, first I have this to share...

I did get a nice surprise recently on the daily rewards in Frontier, I finally pulled the new death card. I'll have to do a post on this one soon after I have a chance to try it out!

This is long drawn out battle, but you can see just how powerful Kron The Undying can be in Modern.

You can see the entire battle at the link here.

This is screenshot before the action has started but after the few buffs are applied. It's fairly low mana at 21 and several rulesets. First is Broken Arrow so no ranged attacks can be used. Second is Born Again meaning all units resurrect once with one health and full armor. Lastly we have Outsider meaning you can bring in one Wild unit.

For archon I chose Kaylia Silverleaf mainly because of her lower mana of four. She also decreases magic attacks by one from the enemy and allows execute, a second attack by certain units if the enemy has less than two or less health remaining. For tank I went with Halfling Refugee followed by Buttercup Mauler. Then I threw in a couple legendary zero mana cards, Kyraseth Nythlarian and Tilly Gearspring. To finish off the team I put Kron The Undying with last stand ability and self heal.

My opponent used Scrag The Knaw for tank followed by Halfling Refugee, hoping the former's poison burst would kill off my tank. Next up was Kaori Matsune that lowers my teams magic attacks. To finish up the team they used Ironwing Juggernaut and wild card Mycelic Morphoid.

I knew this would be a long battle, thanks to Born Again...

By round two only Mycelic Morphoid has been eliminated.

It starts to get frustrating and everyone keeps coming back from the dead...

By round four both sides are finally taking some losses...

Round five not much has changed as people are born again...

More of the same at round six...

Round seven and things are looking to be going my way. I'm still hoping to get Kron The Undying into last stand mode.

Alas, it never happens as Kron takes the final kill shot. Kron The Undying is a very powerful opponent. Especially with the archon Llama, in Wild when you see a mana of 17 you have to assume this combo is coming! But it's fun to finally be using it again in Modern! Outsider has brought back a lot of the fun into Modern in my opinion.

Foundations Packs Opened

I recently had some pack opening, and had a great pull to share. Plus, I always like to share at least some packs opened in every Splinterlands post!

I pulled a gold foil epic Glimmermancer which is a great card. I already have a gold foil max copy, so this goes up for sale. They are running around $0.40, not too bad. Nothing else too special here...

And some nice rare cards including the death archon Thalgrimore, so not bad at all!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will do it for this Monday, I hope you're having a great day! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thanks for all of your support. It is deeply appreciated. Have a great week everyone!

I think I have a Kron tucked away somewhere myself. I don't quite remember though. Probably sitting on land or something.
