My Splinterlands journey started a long time ago, way back before the days of Chaos. Back then there were far less cards to play with and the game was far simpler. I really enjoyed the game back in those days. Fast forward several years and I had stopped playing the game altogether except for brawl play with my guild. I had kind of fallen out of love with the game... Then, I tried playing Frontier Mode a few months back, and it renewed my energy to play the game!
Frontier Mode can only played with Foundations cards which you receive for free in Campaign Mode. From there you can win more cards in gameplay or buy them if you wish to speed up the process of leveling up. There are relatively few Foundations cards which makes the game much more challenging and to be completely honest, more fun in my eyes. One of the perks that players can receive is black foil cards or arcane gold or black foil cards in a weekly free giveaway. Active players can earn entries through daily battle rewards. You can also burn cards for extra entries as well.
This morning, to my surprise, my secondary account had managed to win a black foil card! The real irony is that this is the third time my secondary account has managed to win one of these cards, yet my primary account still has yet to win even one... I really do think my primary account is cursed! At least I have some luck with the secondary account that I once had created for a scholar. He gave up playing, so I picked up playing when he left off.
Here was today's lucky pull in the drawing:

This is a regular black foil, I have yet to pull any arcanes. I do keep my fingers crossed though! There is a limit of 200 on production of these and this one is number 46. The nice thing about these cards is they are max level and when played in Modern or Wild you receive a bonus when you win.

The Hungry Ulund can be very useful under the right circumstances. It is rather slow and only has two ranged damage, but comes with two armor which can come in handy! It's not a card I use all that often, but there are times it fits in the strategy perfectly. I was very excited to get a black foil copy of this one.

Now it's time to see the new black foil Hungry Ulund in action. After playing Frontier for some time I decided to start playing Modern again as well. So without further ado, here we go!
You can see the entire battle here at this link.

First off this is a battle in Modern with a mana cap of 43 with the rule sets of Lost Magic and Deflection Field.
This was an interesting match as my opponent came in with some nice cards. I decided to go with a Life splinter team using Incessant Sage as my archon granting an extra plus one shield to each member of my team. Next I brought in my favorite tank Doomshield Warden giving the next monster reach ability. Next I followed with my second favorite life tank Saltwraith Bulkhead. I still think he belongs in the water splinter with that name... But a nice secondary tank but does have the exhaustion potential which is a potential pitfall. Then I brought in Sherringham Logger followed by my new black foil Hungry Ulund. And bringing up the tail end was the legendary Gallicus with his taunt ability.
My opponent chose Dolfar Darflak as archon. In first position came Fenmoor Haunt followed by the Wailing Wraith. Next up was Chaos Jailer and Executioner Kraan, a card I have never used before! The team rounded off with Grimbardun Fighter and Mad Ogre Anarchist. To be completely honest I don't think I have any of those cards in my collection, so I have very little experience with them. That always makes the match more interesting!

And here my new black foil card makes it's first big contribution with a kill near the end of round one taking out the Wailing Wraith!

By round two this is how things stood, I still hadn't taken any serious damage to my team but I was chipping away at my opponent.

Near the end of round two the Chaos Jailer went down for the count. However, my Gallicus is in pretty bad shape...

At the start of round three my Gallicus eats the dust, leaving my four cards against three for my opponent.

By round four my team is slowly beating away at Executioner Kraan and the Mad Ogre Ananchist.

Near the end of round five my team is still looking pretty good, and Doomshield Warden delivers the death blow to the Grimbardun Fighter ending the match.
Great game to my opponent! It was a good match but the Doomshield Warden proved problematic to the opposing team. It's one of the things I really enjoy about the card, it is a game changer! My new black foil Hungry Ulund also performed admirably although suffering one miss in the match. With a speed of just two that's bound to happen... Saltwraith Bulkhead was another standout in the game except he did become exhausted in one round, I hate it when that happens!
Big takeaway on Hungry Ulund, a great card in the right situation. However, those situations can be rather limited. Still, it's always fun to play with a new toy, and it gave me a nice bonus on the winnings of 20%!

Gold Foil Thalgrimore Pull
Now for a Foundations pack opening! Usually I save a bunch up, but lately I just plain forgot. I did get a really cool pull the other day on this one, have a look:

It's always exciting to get a gold foil pull on an archon! They always are more expensive when you decide to sell them, or you can save them to level them up to max level. I have decided to do just that, and from now on won't be selling my gold foil archons. It will take some patience and time to get there, but it can be done!

That will do it for this Monday. I hope you all are having a great week so far! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. It really is greatly appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

Look at you go! Congrats! I still haven't gotten around to playing the free side of the game.
It's kind of fun like it used to be, more challenge because of less cards available. The downside is that now it's become so popular that some of the cards are becoming overpopulated. I've started burning many of them in exchange for entries in the drawing. But still my primary account still can't pull a drawing win! lol
That is awesome my friend, so happy that you pulled that balck card. I hardly play frontier lately than it used to be, and I should play it more often. ;)

I haven't been playing as much as I should either, it's hard to find time! I usually have to do it early in the morning before other things get in the way! !lol
