Splinterlands: My Very First Black Foil Arcane Pull, Sherringham Logger

This Monday I finally got an exciting draw for finishing my daily tasks in Frontier Mode. To my surprise I had won a black foil arcane Sherringham Logger. These are very rare, and only ten will be issued. This is numbered 10/10, but so far only three have been issued. So right now only three exist!

I was thrilled to finally get a black foil arcane, I've wanted one for ages. I have quite a few black foils, one gold arcane, but the black foil has eluded me until now.

As you can see it comes as a max level which is four, as Foundations cards only climb to level four in rare cards. Level five in common. They can be used it Frontier or Modern play. So how is this different than a regular black foil? Play wise there isn't much, but it's the prestige of having a very rare card in your collection. And in Modern you do get a black foil bonus when you win a match when one is used.

Additionally I had a couple other exciting pulls recently in Frontier mode, an epic and rare Jackpot cards from finishing my daily tasks.

White Chickadee is a great card at level three as it offers tank heal in Frontier play. It's the only tank healer there is there, I have one in gold foil and even use in in Modern play on occasion. It's a great card, everyone should have a max copy of this one!

I also won a Necrulencian Thief, a rare card that becomes very useful come level three. I also have a gold foil of this one at level three at use it a lot. So both of these I have placed for sale, but they are fun to win! It's a great bonus!

Now let's see the card in action, what's a post about it if I don't use it?

This was a battle in Modern with a mana cap of 69 leaving some nice heavy options available. The ruleset was Brute Force meaning units with the highest power attack first. The above screenshot is after the buffs are applied but before the action has started.

For archon I decided to use legendary Captain Frankie as it gives Pierce and True Strike to two of my units. It also grants stacked inspire to all melee units making them very dangerous. For tank I went with Doomshield Warden which grants reach to my next card Saltwraith Bulkhead' who I gave the pierce/true strike ability. Next my black foil arcane Sherringham Logger was used and given pierce/true strike as well. Next up I placed Vicious Quilliun followed by Olivia of the Brook. Lastly I placed legendary Nessa.

My opponent chose Aurelia as archon granting one extra health to all team members. For tank Quilliun Legionary was used followed by Giam Root. Next up Conclave Tracker was used to help regenerate shields and then some heavy magic with Forlorn Geomant. Lastly my opponent went with Boring Hobgoblin followed by taunt card, Silverleaf Mage.

I felt pretty good when I saw the matchup!

And Sherringham Logger delivers the final death blow to end the match in round three. Great game to my opponent. In the end my legendary summoner was just too much to overcome. Played correctly Captain Frankie can be very hard to beat. I don't play Sherringham Logger much in Modern as I have better options, but it was fun to try out in a few matches.

Keep playing Frontier mode for your entries in the weekly draw, you might get lucky and get a black foil arcane. I've been playing diligently for over six months and finally got lucky! Be consistent and fortune will eventually smile upon you, it did me and I have horrible luck!
