Splinterlands: Khan Feywest, A Lucky Jackpot Win!

I have been playing Splinterlands for quite a few years now. As a matter of fact I have been on Hive for five years, and that is when I began to play the game back in the Untamed era. It's been quite a journey.

Frontier mode came out last year using a whole new set of cards called Foundations. These are the only cards playable in Frontier mode which made it much more challenging as the cards were fewer making team selection tougher. They can also be used for play in Modern making them more useful. This year things were shaken up with the addition of Jackpot cards that could be won by finishing daily tasks.

Recently six more cards were added in. Some could be purchased with Sparks, but quickly sold out. Now you can only win them as Jackpot pulls or on the open market. I got very lucky a couple days ago pulling a new one to me, Khan Feywest.

The chance of winning one of these is only 1.5%, so it's exciting to win one! Now for some details about the card:

From level one is comes with Snipe attacking the first non melee card in the opposing team and three magic per attack. Health isn't too bad at six and speed is three. Then at level two you pick up Divine Shield which protects you from the first damage it would normally take, and health increases by one. At level three you pick up some more speed and health is up to eight. However, at max level of four you pick up Slow, which slows down all of your opponent's cards by one, and an extra health.

A maxed out card can be a force to be dealt with, as with Aurelia at archon, it starts off with ten health! Not too shabby. I have tried to use my card rather unsuccessfully so far, so I found a battle that shows it's true value. It's not my own, I'll state that upfront!

Since winning this card I have tried several times to get a win using it, to no avail. Rather than show one of my humiliating defeats using the card I decided to find a battle where the card is of utility. The one I found came from the top of the Frontier leaderboard with a maxed out version of the Khan Feywest. They have invested some money into the game!

This screenshot was taken after the buffs were applied but before the action started. It a Frontier battle with a mana cap on 49, with rulesets of Fog of War so units lose sneak, snipe and opportunity and Global Warming where at the start of each round each unit is hit with burning, taking two damage off their health unless cleansed.

The winning opponent chose Aurelia as archon followed by Dread Tafarian with his self heal ability. Next up was Mad Gearhead with Khan Feywest right after. To round out the team they used Time Bandit for the cleanse and a nice taunt card to finish off.

The losing contestant chose Aurelia as archon as well but at tank used Dire Bear with Dread Tafarian as backup tank. Then came Time Bandit, placed too early in my opinion. To round out the team they used Kicking Roc and Wilhelmdale Deputy.

Round two and the tanks have taken some serious damage.

Here I caught the round three burning taking place, kind of fun to watch!

Round four and things are winding down.

Here Khan Feywest takes out the opposing Time Bandit.

And the burning takes the final kill shot in this one. I guess the moral of the story is: it's better to outlast your opponent with Burning, as was done here. Although the high health of Khan Feywest played a huge factor in the win, that high magic attack did takes its toll as well. Very well played!

Opening Three Foundations Packs

As always I like to share my latest pack openings. This time around there was really not all that exciting, but still you can have a look.

The legendary card was kind of nice, but sadly wasn't gold foil... Agniavan Salamander does have a nice role in some battles when maxed out, but I don't use it very often. This one will go up for sale as mine is a gold foil version I picked up some time ago.

Again, nothing too special. Not all packs are big winners, as a matter of fact most don't have anything really good. But every now and again you get really lucky with a valuable gold foil pull!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will finish up my post for today, I do hope you enjoyed. I wish I had a good battle of my own featuring Khan Feywest, but I'm still figuring out how to use this card! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you for all of the support. It's deeply appreciated. Have a great day everyone!
