As I have discussed in the past, my Splinterlands journey is what introduced me to Hive going on about four and a half years ago. For some time after Chaos I stopped playing the game as much but focused more on posting her on the platform and have really enjoyed it! Recently, I have found myself enjoying Splinterlands once again thanks to the Frontier Mode. Not long after that, I found myself playing Modern again as well and liking the game once again.
Not long ago, the Escalation packs were released and some cards they contain have really become game changers. I've talked about a few in my last few posts, but one I have been crossing paths with more and more is Fenmoor Gorgon. There is a very good reason for it, she's a Death Splinter card that has a decent magic attack but more importantly has Demoralize. That means at level three she decreases the melee attack of your opponent's cards by one.

As soon as I had earned enough money from card sales I jumped in and bought one for myself. You will notice I picked up a gold foil copy, you may ask what insanity drove me to do that? None actually, it was simply less expensive that the regular foil. Go figure... And since gold foil starts at level tree it worked out nicely.
This really is a fun card to utilize, and with a mana of only five it's not hard to fit into most any Death team. She also picks up some extra abilities at level five with Cripple (decreases your targets max health by one after successful attack) and Execute (if your target has two or less health left after successful attack it attacks again terminating the card) at level ten. I will be increasing mine to level five once I earn enough funds to cover the extra cards!

Now time to see her in action. This is a quick match in no small part thanks to her Demoralize ability. Here we go!
You can see the whole battel at this link here.

To start off this is a Modern battle with a mana cap of 38. The rulesets added are Reverse Speed and Heavy Hitters, meaning the units usually slowest go first and that if a unit is stunned each hit applies double damage. That latter doesn't apply in this match as no monsters had the stun ability.
I chose to use the Death Splinter as monsters there tend to be slower. As archon I went with Thalgrimore which decreases the health of all enemy monsters by one. Then for the tank I elected to go with Ujurak Brave as it decreases magic attacks by enemy monsters by one. Next up I went with the magic mushroom Dark Arborist which decreases the melee attack of enemy monsters by one and has magic reflect. Then comes Sorrow Harvester which decreases the health of opposing monsters by one followed by my new toy, Fenmoor Gorgon, which also decreases enemy melee attack by one. Next up was one of my favorite cards Arachne Weaver which has corrupted healing which heals most of your team every round, how awesome is that? Then also has scavenge picking up one health every time a monster on either side dies. Last up, Ujurak Elder which grants an additional health to each member of my team.
My opponent came in with a nice archon Hanv which give Double Strike (attacks twice rather than one time) to one unit as well as Swiftness (increases the units speed). At tank they brought in one of my favorite cards, Doomshield Warden, but only at level one, at level three it's a much bigger problem to deal with... Next up was Fenmoor Haunt followed by Forked-Tongue Sage. Then came Chaos Evoker and Surly Drunk, rounding out with Portly Cannoneer. One big limitation right off the bat is the level one summoner, level 2 could really cause me some problems! Another was the Swiftness applied to the whole team, it made no sense as it is a Reverse Speed match.
Let's see how it goes! The above screenshot is after all buffs have been applied but before the action has started.

Halfway through round one my magic attacks take out Doomshield very quickly, as his health is reduced by my archon and Sorrow Harvester.

At the start of round two my enemies forces have been decimated and I have yet to take any casualties thanks to the corrupted healing of Arachne Weaver.

Early in round two everything is pretty much over as the Dark Arborist takes out the Surly Drunk.

And Ujurak Brave delivers the final deathblow to end the match. Good game to my opponent.
Why was this match over so quickly? My use of cards that decreased melee attack, Fenmoor Gorgon and Dark Arborist, the decreased magic attack by Ujurak Brave, and decreased health by Sorrow Havester and my archon. My opponent's team came in severely weakened from the get go by this combination. It's part of the reason I'm really starting to love to use Fenmoor Gorgon, what a great card!

One nice thing about playing at the Gold Levels in Frontier Mode is that after finishing one of your three daily rewards by winning matches you get awarded with a Foundations pack. Many people like to just sell them, I prefer to open them. Why? Maybe because it's like being a kid on Christmas morning with that excitement to see what will be inside that present! Sometimes the gift is amazing and other times you get socks... Same applies with the cards in these packs, most are near worthless but every now and again you get a valuable pull.
Here are six packs I opened recently, you can see exactly what I mean in these packs:

First up I pull two legendary cards, A'lan Musketeer and Great Bear Druid. The Musketeer usually sells well and brings in a decent price so I was happy with it. The other is okay, just not great price wise....

Here I pull two rare gold foil cards, Scales of Justice and Arcane Curator. Both pretty good cards both of which I have maxed out in gold so both went up for sale! The Vengeful Monk is a great card as well!

Nothing too special here sadly...

And the same here... Akin to receiving socks... Oh well, you can't win them all!
If you don't yet play Splinterlands it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will wrap up my Splinterland post for this week. I really do like Fenmoor Gorgon and when I earn enough from card sales I will surely be buying her up to level five. It fits so nicely with my Death Splinter style in Modern that it's a no brainer. Please feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments below, and thanks for all of your support. I really do deeply appreciate it! Have a great rest of your weekend!

I don't know if I could get into Spinterlands. I like strategy games, but not sure about the theme. I have also gathered there are lots of bots and you end up playing bots a great deal. Is that correct?
Bots are only allowed in Wild, in Modern and Frontier you are only playing people. It's still a challenge though, the theme isn't something I ever really was into not having been a Dungeon and Dragons guy. I mainly got started back in the day when it was an easy money maker, along with Axie Infinity. Those days are long gone... It does help keep my mind a little sharper though as it forces me to think and memorize strategies. My brain isn't quite the razor's edge it once was...
That is an awesome battle, my friend, you beat that Legendary Arcon so easily. ;)
