Splinterlands: Adding Portia Nyr to my Bloodline Tribute Team!

My Splinterlands journey started way back in September of 2021, back when Hive was shooting up the charts and monsters were becoming very, very valuable. If you wanted a Kitty or Llama archon you were really going to pay for it, they weren't cheap. But they were true gamechangers and those who held them had a serious advantage over the have nots. I was a have not for a very long time! I did eventually pick one of each up, but since have sold them when prices took a downturn.

Now with Conclave and Escalation there are some more true gamechangers that are becoming a must have to be competitive. Over the last month or so I have really been enjoying the use of Bloodline Tribute in my water teams. This past week I decided to add a special extra something to enhance that ability by renting Portia Nyr. She has Shapeshift which gives makes her essentially all bloodline when it come to tribute. She is a promo card and a little bit expensive, which is why I am renting right now, but after playing with the card it's one going down on the soon to be purchased list.

First off, she is a neutral card and can be used in all splinters. She is a legendary promo card with only some 1,300 in circulation. She does have some great abilities starting with Shapeshift and Pain Forge at level one. She then adds Apex Strike at level two, level three grants you Immunity, and at level four Relentless Strike so she takes much less damage from all attacks. Not to mention here attack climbs to four magic!

This is a really nice card that I will definitely be buying soon. Since I do love using Bloodline Tribute she fits my playing style perfectly. Right now she is running about six dollars a copy, so it's going to take some saving to be able to buy one, in the meantime, I can always rent like I am right now!

Let's good a look at her in action!

First off, this is a high mana battle of 69 in Modern Mode. The ruleset is the standard one and the screenshot above is after all the buffs have been applied. I chose Marlai Singariel as my archon as she increases the magic attack of my monsters by one. First up I place Wailsworn Specter for the bloodline tribute ability to undead monsters. That gives monsters of the same bloodline (or Shapeshift) monster increased speed, health, and attack power. Next up I place my tank of Doomshield Warden followed by Blue Wyrm Travesty as he is an undead bloodline. Then I chose the Mindless Thrall as it is also undead followed by Portia Nyr since she has Shapeshift and will be boosted when the Wailsworn Specter is defeated. I rounded off the team with Captain Fellblade for it speed and dual attack.

My opponent also chose Marlai Singariel but went with Coralforged as a tank followed by Commander Slade. Next they chose Torrent Sniper and Saltwater Mage. Then to round out the team they placed the Mindless Thrall and Mystic Scaleweaver. All pretty good cards and a solid looking team!

It didn't take long for the Wailsworn Specter to go down giving bloodline tribute the my remaining middle tree monsters making them serious high on attack!

Starting round two my opponent lost it's tank Coralforged.

Mystic Scaleweaver was taken out not far into the second round leaving my opponent's team looking a little weak.

By round three things are looking pretty bleak for my opponent as Commander Slade is down for the count.

Here you can see Portia Nyr taking out the Torrent Sniper with a massive five magic hit!

At the final deathblow is delivered by the Mindless Thrall with it's massive five magic attack thanks to the bloodline tribute.

Good game to my opponent, nicely selected team! However, it is hard to overcome bloodline tribute when there are three monsters boosted by it. This is why I really am enjoying Portia Nyr, and will likely pick one up once I manage to sell enough cards to cover the cost!

Opening Fourteen Foundations Packs

I always like to do some Foundations Pack openings. You never know what you will get, and sometimes you get a very nice surprise. Today I got one of those thank goodness! No gold legendary cards, but a valuable gold epic card is always welcome!

First bunch I got some decent pulls with a Marlai Singariel and a couple gold cards. I also pulled a death legendary Little Sister. Although not horribly valuable it's always fun to get a legendary!

Here's where things got interesting with the pull of an epic gold foil Lunaki Howler . The run more than $2.50 right now! Not too bad! Plus a earth archon too boot!

Not too bad here, a death archon Thalgrimore in this batch.

And a fire archon in the last few, so really not too bad overall! The one epic gold foil card alone made it very much worth opening up these 14 packs. It's always a gamble when you open these up, sometimes you get very lucky, and other times you luck out. Today was lucky thank goodness!
