Splinterlands: Adding Maud Stonefoot, the Zero Mana Water Monster with Magic Atack

When I first started playing Splinterlands back in the days before the Chaos Legion, one of my favorite cards was always the Furious Chicken. Why you might ask? Because it was a zero mana card that was a perfect sacrifice to take the first hit saving my more valuable attack cards unscathed. I still own a level one version of the card which I still use in brawls fairly frequently.

Chaos and Rebellion both brought out more zero mana cards. One of the coolest one was Elanor Bravefoot, which I am still to poor to own, but such is life! However, Escalation has produced four new zero mana cards. One for Fire, Water, Earth, and the Life splinters. A couple weeks ago I shared Kyraseth Nythlarian, the death zero mana attack card with melee power! Today I finally managed to sell enough cards to use the profits to pick up the Water splinter zero mana Escalation card, Maud Stonefoot!

Why is this so exiting to me? It's because the Water splinter has long been my favorite and I love using magic attacks. Maud has magic attack which I love! At level four her attack even increases to two! At level two she picks up Bloodline Pact so any monsters of her bloodline that defeat a monster gains them all one power. However, there is a downside. When one of them is defeated they all take on point of true damage. I personally don't plan on increasing her level as I like her as a potential sacrifice card while the added bonus of some firepower! But who knows what the future may bring!

Now time to see here in action!

You can view the whole battle at this link here.

First off, this a Modern battle with a mana cap of 45, so pretty respectable. The rulesets included Broken Arrrows and Aim True, meaning to arrows can't be used and all monsters will not miss their targets. The above screenshot is after al buffs have been applied.

I went with Marlai Singariel as my archon since I wanted to use my new toy! First up I used Wailworn Specter for it's Bloodline Tribute ability, upon it's death granting all other undead monsters more speed and attack. Next up I placed Blue Wyrm Travesty, an undead Escalation card. Next up one of my favorite cards Torrent Sniper followed by the Mindless Thrall, another undead card. The I added in Maud Stonefoot and rounded out my team with Ujurak Elder.

My opponent also chose Marlai Singariel but at level 3. For a tank Coralforged was brought in the lineup followed by Commander Slade as it has reach ability thanks to the flank ability of the tank. Then came in Halfling Refugee followed by Mindless Thrall. To round out the team there was Mystic Scaleweaver and Ujurak Elder. Not too bad!

As expected my Wailsworn Specter goes down giving Bloodline Tribute of speed and firepower the Mindless Thrall and Blue Wyrm Travesty.

By round three my Blue Wrym Travesty goes down. But my opponent has also lost several key cards giving me a huge advantage!

And here Maud Stonefoot really shows her value by taking out Halfling Refugee.

Here my Mindless Thrall shows the value of the Bloodline Tribute is it takes out the Mystic Scaleweaver with a five magic blast!

And the death blow is delivered by my Ujurak Elder taking out my opponent's card. Great game to my opponent! Maud Stonefoot really came in handy in this match as she has two magic attack per round which can cause all sorts of havoc! Another major factor in the match was my level 4 archon vs my opponent's level 3. A stronger archon can be a big game changer. Not to mention the Bloodline Tribute powering up two cards on my team as well!

Opening Ten Foundations Packs

Not all card pack openings are the same, and some turn out to be relatively disappointing. Today was one of those days sadly... You can't win the all!

I did pull thee Thalgrimore cards which isn't too bad as he's the death archon. I also pulled an epic Lenore Nevermore which isn't a bad card. But nothing else too special!

Here really nothing to write home about...

And last up I did pull a Marlai Singariel the water archon which is a great card. I also pulled a gold foil Nim Guard Captain which was nice, but nothing else real special. Like I said, a bit disappointing, but they can't all produce gold legendary cards!

That will wrap things up for me today. I hope you enjoyed seeing Maud Stonefoot in action, it really is a nice card to have added to my deck! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and as always thank you for all of your support. It's truly greatly appreciated. Have a great week everyone!

Maud is a fantastic card - I agree. That zero mana and magic damage is truly full of potential, especially for anyone playing in the lower leagues.
