My First Splinterlands Jackpot Card: Aimee Whisperwind

On Tuesday January 13th, the update on Splinterlands was complete that added in the brand new Jackpot Cards in Frontier Mode. Ever since I have been playing on both of my accounts crossing my fingers that I would be one of the lucky few that get a very lucky pull. They can be won by completing the daily rewards in Frontier Mode, however, there is only a 1.5% chance of finding one. So if you have three daily rewards a day after 34 days you should statistically find one, maybe. It's all luck!

Did I pull my Jackpot Card from those daily rewards? I would love to say yes, but that would be a lie. I found Aimee Whisperwind on the market for $0.50 and snapped it up. Talk about a deal! I'm sure eventually it will be worth much less than that, but I really wanted to try out one of the new cards!

As Aimee Whisperwind is a Foundations card, she only can achieve a maximum level of five. Right now I have a single copy which is a level one giving her an melee attack of two and opportunity to attack the opponent's card with the weakest health. At level three her melee attack climbs the three, and at level five gains fury which does double damage to a taunt card. Overall a great card, however, her mana is nine and her starting health is only five. That could make her susceptible to opportunity attacks if you aren't careful.

This match was in Modern and the mana cap was 60, a nice high number! The rule set was Target Practice meaning all magic and ranged monsters attacks have the Snipe ability. That means that all magic and ranged monsters will be attacking the first non melee monster behind the first position.

For my archon I decided to use my maxed out Marlai Singariel followed with a nice solid tank Commander Slade. I followed that with Saltwater Mage, then Torrent Sniper, followed by Mystic Scaleweaver, Mindless Thrall, and at the end Aimee Whisperwind. I figured with the ruleset attacking non melee monsters she should be safe in last position.

My opponent used the archon Loving The Moo with a tank of Coralforged. That was followed by Commander Slade, Warborn Shaman, Mystic Scaleweaver, Rune Arcanist and to finish up Torrent Sniper. To be honest, a formidable lineup... However, with the level one archon it did give me an edge!

After round one was over my opponent had already lost the Warborn Shaman due to the snipe attacks.

After round two the Mystic Scaleweaver and Rune Archanist had also bit the dust. I lost my Saltwater Mage due to the sniping as well.

After round three things weren't looking good for my opponent, he lost all monsters except Commander Slade. At this point it was five on one, so pretty much over.

And in round four after the dust settle I came out victorious. Aimee Whisperwind really impressed me doling out a lot of damage throughout the match. Right now she's only a level one, imagine what she will do at level three with the added melee attack. I am really liking this new addition to my deck!

I will continue to play Frontier Mode every day to get those daily rewards. With any luck I will pull a Jackpot Card soon, but in the meantime I'll be happy with my new addition! That will wrap up my post for this Thursday, I hope you enjoyed it. I have found a new enjoyment in Splinterlands with Frontier Mode. It's simpler to play as there are a lot less cards to select, which really makes it a fun challenge. I have recently started playing Modern again with mainly Foundations cards and seem to do well in Bronze. Thus the battle in Modern today!
