Melee Rumble with Captain Frankie

Heya, Splinterfam. It's been a minute since I've posted something on Hive. And between now and my last post, there was a ton of Splinterlands content that was released. It's really hard to keep up now with everything that the team has been dropping and I think it's a good sign for the future of the project.

Among all these, a new legendary archon has actually dropped, named Captain Frankie. Now this new set of legendary archons are quite different from the Rebellion ones since they support dual bloodlines instead of the usual one. And what's interesting too is that the races they imbue are not even the ones that these archons belong to. For example, Captain Frankie is part of the Awakened Beasts, and yet his bloodline dominion includes Rodentian and Tideborns.

Captain Frankie's Bloodline Dominion gives Inspire, which increases all melee attacks of all affected units by 1. He can also bestow Piercing and True Strike to up to two allies. Now these abilities scream of melee heavy lineups.

Tideborns

Now let's see what synergizes well with Captain Frankie on the Tideborn race.

Saltwraith Bulkhead and Savaketh is probably one of the most obvious combinations that you can see coming when the new Conclave Arcana reward set came out. Saltwraith Bulkhead is one melee powerhouse with 6 melee damage, 6 armor, and 11 health. On top of that, he also has the ability to heal himself making him a formidable tank as well. The only drawback to him would be the Weary which would make him unrealiable the longer the battle progresses. Luckily, Savaketh comes with a unique new ability, Invigorate, which nullifies the penalty given by Weary. If I ever play Captain Frankie, these two would be my first picks in my lineup.

Cloveria Morth'lana

There's also a newly released card from the voucher shop, Cloveria Morth'lana, and I think it synergizes well with Captain Frankie. Cloveria is probably the ultimate assassin all on her own with Recharge and Ambush. These two mean that she can deal 12 damage two times in round 1! On top of that, she also has Camouflage making her hard to kill early on. But the main weakness of Recharge is that you might waste your turn to attack if the enemy dodges or if they are heavily armored. Captain Frankie rectifies these weaknesses by giving Clovera True Strike and Piercing. With him in the helm of your team, Cloveria is sure to kill one or two enemy units by turn 1!
