Splinterlands Day 6: Learning From the Close Battles

One thing I have started noticing during my time playing Splinterlands is that the battles I learn the most from are not always the ones I win easily.

Sometimes, the most interesting battles are the ones where everything comes down to the final few turns. You may enter a battle feeling confident about your lineup, only to realize that your opponent has built a team that creates problems for your strategy.

That happened to me again today.

I went into a battle thinking I had a decent lineup. I had a clear idea of which cards I wanted to use and how I wanted the battle to develop. My main focus was making sure my strongest cards were in useful positions while giving my team enough support to survive.

But once the battle started, things did not go exactly as planned.

My opponent had a different approach. Instead of simply trying to overpower my team, their lineup created problems that forced me to rethink what was happening. Some of my cards were not performing the way I expected, and the battle became much closer than I initially thought it would be.

That is one of the things I enjoy about Splinterlands.

You can have a plan before the battle starts, but the plan does not guarantee the result.

Sometimes positioning matters more than having the strongest card. Sometimes a support card becomes more important than your main attacker. Sometimes a card that looks average on paper ends up making a huge difference because of the situation.

I have also realized that I pay more attention to these details now than I did when I first started playing.

Before, I could look at a battle and simply think, “I lost.”

Now I am more likely to ask myself, “Why did I lose?”

Was my tank in the wrong position?

Did I choose the wrong support?

Did I spend too much mana on one part of the team?

Did I underestimate my opponent?

Or was there simply a better combination I could have tried?

Those questions make losing feel different.

Instead of seeing every loss as wasted effort, I can use it as information for the next battle.

Another thing I am learning is that there is no single strategy that works perfectly all the time. A lineup that works extremely well in one battle can struggle badly in another.

The ruleset, mana limit, card abilities and opponent’s strategy can completely change the way a battle should be approached.

That means I cannot just keep repeating the same lineup and expect the same results.

Sometimes I need to experiment.

Sometimes I need to take a risk.

And sometimes I simply need to keep things simple.

That has probably been one of my biggest lessons so far in this series.

I started this journey thinking more about individual cards, but I am gradually becoming more interested in how the entire team works together.

A card does not always need to be the strongest card on the field. It just needs to perform its role.

One card protects.

Another attacks.

Another provides support.

Another creates an advantage through its ability.

When those pieces work together, the lineup can become much stronger than the individual cards suggest.

That is what makes building a team interesting to me.

Every battle becomes another small experiment.

Today was another reminder that close battles can teach you more than easy victories. When a battle is difficult, you are forced to pay attention. You start noticing small mistakes and small opportunities.

And sometimes one small decision can completely change the outcome.

As I continue playing, I want to become better at recognizing those decisions before the battle gets too far.

I am still experimenting, still learning different combinations and still discovering which cards work best together.

There is still a lot I do not know, but that is part of the fun.

Day 6 is another step in the journey, and I am looking forward to seeing what the next battles teach me.
