The Splinterlands Social Media Challenge is an event where players share insights they find with the community, whether it's a new strategy or discovery. This week, the theme will be Foundation Cards, a new class of cards that was introduced to Splinterlands with the arrival of Campaign mode to the NFT card game!

What are Foundation Cards?
Along with the campaign mode, Foundation Cards arrived in Splinterlands in the June 3 update. These cards are part of the rewards obtained by completing the campaign mode chapters, all being level 1 and generally simpler than the other cards, especially since they are given for free to all players who complete the Waur Medge Academy Tutorial.
Unlike Ghost Cards, which were used by beginners and affected Glint and reward gains, these can be used in various game modes such as Ranked without affecting gains. The difference is that these cards do not contribute to the Account's Collection Power and do not help in lands, since they have no production value.
These cards are currently soulbound, which means they cannot be sold or traded and there is no option to evolve them at this time. However, the addition of cards that can be used by new players is very good, because they are NFTs, which brings up the issue of players owning the cards from the start and is an incentive for players to do the campaign mode tutorials and learn about the game.
Begginer Deck - Book 1 (Waur Medge Academy)
The campaign mode began with Book 1 Waur Medge Academy, in which the player can, upon completing all missions, obtain a complete beginner's deck with 42 different cards, of all elements and rarities.
It's interesting that there are several cards that will help the player a lot at the beginning of Splinterlands, giving a greater option of cards to choose from and combine with the cards he will earn in the Glint Shop when he starts to get Glints. Some of the interesting epic cards are Echelon for a melee team and a strong presence of mages in the Death deck with Sorrow Harvester and Little Sister.
What will be the future of Foundations Cards?
One question that players who have finished the campaign mode have is about what will be the future of Foundations Cards. After all, these cards were given as a reward to players at level 1 and at the beginning, if I'm not mistaken, there was no information about new levels, which generated this doubt. However, if you go to the 2025 release notes, in the 03/06 update you will find a note at the very end stating that they intend to add more ways to get Foundation cards, as well as allowing them to be traded and also combined in a future update.
Also, currently in the foundation cards you have the status tab that already shows what the status of the card will be in its next levels, based on the amount of cards needed, but we still do not have access to the data of the cards from levels 6 to 10 for example, perhaps for balancing reasons. I think this already makes it clear that there is an interest in having more ways to get these cards, perhaps in the next campaign books or perhaps some form of mission, or daily check-in, or some kind of battle pass. This would be an interesting way to give players another objective to complete during the week.

O que são as Foundations Cards?
Junto do modo modo campanha, as Foundation Cards chegaram ao Splinterlands na atualização do dia 03 de junho. Essas cartas são parta das recompensas obtidas ao completar os capítulos do modo campanha, sendo todas level 1 e geralmente mais simples do que as demais cartas, até por que são dadas de forma gratuita para todos os jogadores que completarem o Waur Medge Academy Tutorial.
Diferentemente das Ghost Cards, que eram usadas pelos iniciantes e afetavam os ganhos de Glint e de recompensas, essas podem ser usadas em diversos modos de jogo como Ranked sem afetar os ganhos. A diferença é que essas cartas não contribuem para o Collection Power da Conta e não ajudam nas lands, já que não possuem production value.
Essas cartas são atualmente soulbound, o que significa que não podem ser vendidas nem trocadas e não tem a opção de evoluir elas até o momento. Entretanto, a adição de cartas que podem ser usadas pelos novos jogadores é muito bom, porque elas são NFTs, o que traz a questão da posse das cartas pelos jogadores já de início e é um incentivo para que os jogadores façam os tutoriais do modo campanha e aprendam sobre o jogo.

O modo campanha começou com o Livro 1 Waur Medge Academy, sendo que nele o jogador já consegue, ao concluir todas as missões, um deck completo para iniciantes com 42 cartas diferentes, de todos os elementos e raridade.
É interessante que tem diversas cartas que vão ajudar bastante o jogador nesse início no Splinterlands, dando uma maior opção de cartas para escolher e combinar com as cartas que ele vai ganhar no Glint Shop quando ele começar a conseguir os Glints. Algumas das cartas épicas interessantes são o Echelon para um time melee e uma presença forte de magos no deck de Death com a Sorrow Harvester e Little Sister.
Qual será o Futuro das Foundations Cards?
Uma dúvida que os jogadores que terminaram o modo campanha ficam é sobre qual será o futuro das Foundations Cards. Afinal, essas cartas foram dadas como recompensa aos jogadores no nível 1 e no início se eu não estou enganado, não tinha as informações de novos níveis, o que gerou essa dúvida. Entretanto, se você for nos release notes de 2025, na atualização de 06/03 encontrará um trecho de Nota bem ao final informando que eles pretendem adicionar mais formas de conseguir cartas Foundation, além de permitir que elas seja trocas e também combinadas em uma atualização futura.
Ainda, atualmente nas foundation cards vcoê tem a aba de status que já mostra qual será os status da carta nos seus próximos níveis, com base na quantidade de cartas necessárias, mas ainda não temos acessos aos dados das cartas do nível 6 ao 10 por exemplo, talvez por uma questão de balanceamento. Acredito que isso já deixa claro o interesse em ter mais formas de conseguir essas cartas, talvez nos próximos livros do modo campanha ou quem sabe alguma forma de missão, ou check-in diário, ou algum tipo de passe de batalha. Essa seria uma forma interessante de dar aos jogadores mais um objetivo à ser completado durante a semana.
