↕Splinterlands Ranked Play Formats Defined↕

This post assumes you know what Splinterlands is. If not there is a brief introduction at the bottom of this post. Splinterlands has ongoing and expanding game modes with multiple ways to participate. For today's post we will focus on the different variants of Ranked play by giving a short and brief definition of such. Before we do that some notes: Modern & Wild Formats share the same energy pool. Frontier Format has its own Standalone energy pool. Survival Mode requires no energy. Playing
Campaign mode also requires no energy. Energy regenerates automatically at a rate of 1 energy point per hour. Now lets define each Ranked format.

Modern League

Ranked play under the Modern League is where the most recent core sets battle it out. At current time (2026) the two core sets allowed to participate in Modern Ranked Play are the Rebellion and Conclave Arcana sets. Frontier cards are also allowed to participate in Modern Play.

Wild League

Ranked play under the Wild League allows participants to battle using all cards within the Splinterlands universe. Playing in Wild requires the purchase of a Wild Pass each season. The Wild Pass has a current value of 2000 DEC.

Frontier League

Frontier League ranked battles is restricted to cards from the Foundation Set. Meaning no other sets can participate in Frontier ranked battles. Frontier has its own league tiers and rewards. Rewards such as Card Draws and Frontier Entries. You can earn Frontier assets in Campaign mode. Frontier cards won in campaign mode are soulbound. Cards that are soulbound can not be sold or rented. They can be combined.

Survival Mode

In Survival ranked play all card editions are allowed to participate but cards that "die" in battle become unusable until revived. It does not require energy to play. Any individual unit that reaches 0 Health during the match is considered "dead" and enters cooldown. If a card is killed but then brought back by the Resurrect ability and is still alive when the match ends, it is considered "Alive" and does not go on cooldown. While on cooldown cards cannot be used for Survival battles, listed for rent, or used in other game modes. Once the cooldown period ends the card is once again playable. You do not lose any cards. Your assets are yours regardless of wins or losses.
