Another topic than a battle for today's post, when I was moving up in divisions within the Silver League I am playing in, I noticed my glint boost got lower and lower quite fast and the 65,000 SPS I have on this account was no longer enough to get full rewards once I entered division 3.

So this made me think, is it worth it to rent an additional 50,000 SPS? I have done this as well for the first half of the season but the timing was bad, it was just before I entered in division 3 so I couldn't compare the battles before and after the start of the rent.

Since I don't want to wait multiple days for the bid to get filled, I am renting at the price of 0.002 dec/sps

As expected, my bid got filled instantly and this time it was filled by a ton of separate, smaller offers all made by @bravetofu so thanks for supplying the SPS, thrust in the game economy by buying so much of it and everything else you do. 🤗

Even for players who are here for years and years, having enough SPS keeps being a problem and it's why some choose to only play on one account.
In my opinion this is a good problem because it keeps SPS desirable and hopefully at some point when we get more players, the price of SPS returns to better values

Before the rent

I'm using a battle I played yesterday at a rating of 3440 without a lot of extra boosts as my baseline, glint boost here was 6.83

After the rent

This morning, I started by renting the SPS and I got back at the same rating, the only difference is in this fight I used two Gold Foils, instead of one and I had a 5% win streak bonus.

The difference

I am not entirely sure how the rewards are being calculated and I think the change because of the 10% Gold Foil and the 5% win streak bonus is a lot smaller, but I like to stay on the safe side, so let's say my earnings without these would have been 13,200 Reward Points and 2,100 Glint.

Compared with my baseline battle this is a difference of:
2852 Reward Points per win
356 Glint per win

At this point, my win rate is 57% but for easy numbers and staying on the safe side, let's say I am playing 24 battles daily and I win half of them so my extra earnings after the full 7 day SPS rental period would be:

2852 x 12 daily wins x 7 = 239,568 extra Reward Points
356 x 12 daily wins x 7 = 29,904 extra Glint

The cost

Renting 50,000 SPS at 0.002 DEC/SPS costs 700 DEC at todays price is $0.35

So... is it worth it?

Looking at my current share of the reward pool, 200k extra in reward points will get you about 0.1% extra from the reward pool.

Last season, which is not entirely the same because the capped 2% per player is now elevated to 4% I earned 287 SPS for the entire season.

Comparing my current 0.83% reward share (which hopefully will increase a little because I still need to do my daily battles, will maybe get me 10% more SPS rewards, so that's 29 extra SPS for the season, plus the almost 30k Glint extra. 🤔

29 SPS at current price is worth $0.11 but I could have also spent the 700 DEC to buy more SPS for myself and get 87 extra SPS...

Conclusion

I don't think it's worth it to rent more SPS for me at the moment, 29k extra Glint is not even half of a legendary draw, plus my reward set is done for the level I am playing at so I started to save the Glint for the new set.

Of course this is different for every player, because it depends on how much SPS you already own yourself and your plans for the future, I am here for the long run so I rather own more SPS myself than renting it so it will be gone after 7 days and I have a little extra Glint and SPS.

It was a cool test and in total this only costed me $0.70 to rent the SPS for the entire season, making a post about it has been fun and hopefully interesting for other players 🙂
