New season, climbing the ladder again!

It's the beginning of a new season in Splinterlands, every player drops 2 divisions down so we can start climbing the ladder again, in the last days of the previous season I was fighting a lot of skilled liquidity bots with strong cards and it's always the same decks that keeps beating me, primarily Mancer and Nidhogr teams, sounds familiar?

After my account regenerated some battle energy it was time to start fighting again, starting in Division 5 and damn, the magic spam down there is no joke! In fact my first four battles were all against Marlai Singariel.

I can understand why this strategy is so popular, Bronze level decks don't have good counter plays except for Kaylia Silverleaf but counter playing these magic teams works best when stacking the -1 magic a couple of times. I don't like to use the same counter team every time because it gets a little boring so I was playing around with options to keep things fun, and one of the teams actually surprised me with a strong melee front line, blasting through my own front line and winning the battle, well done @vanielie!

My main counter play against magic heavy teams is usually some version of this team, either using Cryptic or when it's a low mana fight I like to use the common archon that can summon the Death and Water splinters together.

I was climbing the ranks pretty quick and the rewards started to get better again, I also started to see the liquidity bots again and they are always a little bit tougher because they don't spam certain strategies, making them hard to counter.

I then had a really interesting fight against a name I recognized, it's someone playing Splinterlands for years as well I believe, they have a nice looking avatar and when the enemy team was revealed there were even three Black Foil cards in it, very nice!

Without magic allowed, I focused on a strong melee team, Elias is the perfect archon for this in my deck and I used the classic Flank / Slade strategy to protect Slade so he's able to inflict massive damage before arriving to the fist position himself, so safeguard him a little bit more, I gave him the Shield ability with the Mana Warden and used Tidal Tsunamist to repair Slade's armor so he would be able to keep striking with it's armor as well, Venka and Kervik are the other two units dealing heavy melee damage and I'm not sure why @yabz didn't deploy the Burning tactic for their archon, probably out of time? It happens to me as well when I am waiting for my opponent and watching or reading something on another tab... 😅

If it was my team I would have put the Burning on both Venka and Kervik but still I don't think it would have made a difference for the outcome of the battle, Slade hits like a truck and especially with the Shield ability he's really hard to stop.

My tank was killed in round two, but by then already half the enemy team got decimated. 😆

The Glint earnings are crazy high, even in Division 4 I was already up to 1900 Glint for a win. Last season my account earned a total of 860k Glint, that's FOUR times more than in the old system!

The team already announced they are aware of this and I don't think it will be long before this gets lowered, which is better for the game economy so enjoy it while it lasts, I started saving Glint for the new reward set because I already completed this set at the max for Silver level.

So far, it was a breeze climbing up the ranks but this will quickly change when I enter Division 3 probably tomorrow or the day after.
