Good morning all fellow mages in Praetoria, I hope you have a better start of season than I do at the moment, the situation is improving a little bit already but still my win rate is far from my average 50%... 😅

So today again, when it's not working to earn on the battlefield, let's TALK about one of the few battles that DID work the way I planned it, to earn and maybe buy some new cards. 😊

In battles, we look for good synergies or combo's between mostly two cards but the combo I made yesterday was worth making a post about in my opinion, so let's go! 😃

In the previous battles from my opponent I could see the card level was even, so that was nice to start with because this early in the season most opponents out-level me, can't wait for the brackets to get implemented! 😇

I could also see a lot of Akane teams and all had the Dragon Egg Forager in them who obviously receives the Ambush ability, it's a very strong card and although Sneak and Opportunity are not as prevalent as they were in the last Modern Rotation when Chaos Legion was still allowed, but the plan my opponent had was clear... take out my little guys first.

Counter play!

I like to counter my opponents, especially when the rulesets are like the current 'Standard' one, the mana cap however was not enough to put one of my big units with the Taunt ability in my team so I had to go with Risqruel so I could give Taunt to a unit of my choosing.

My Line-Up:

• Archon: Risqruel Drath - reason: Access to both Fire and Earth for more option, and the Taunt tactic.
• First position: Halfling Refugee - reason: 1 mana for 6 HP is always a good deal.
• Second position: Taye Loreswift - reason: +1 melee damage for my entire team.
• Third position: Quilliun Legionary - reason: This unit will receive Taunt, great combo with Thorns and Void.
• Fourth position: Sira - reason: Gives Shield to Quilliun Legionary.
• Fifth position: Inept Healer - reason: Corrupted Healing to hopefully keep my Taunt alive
• Sixth position: Thanalorian Blade - reason: Opportunity with Execute or rather... EGGecute no it's almost Easter 😄

Sira was really a great addition to my team when I was able to level her up, she's camouflaged herself, and works really nice with Risqruel for that third damage for only four mana. Quilliun Legionary is the MVP in this match, with both the Void and Shield ability it's a nasty combination to get through, especially when it's being sustained with Corrupted Healing.
I couldn't fit any Amplify in this team to maximize the Thorns damage, that would have been perfect. 😆

In round 1, the Thorns and my own Opportunity Thanalorian Blade quickly dealt with the Dragon Egg Forager, that Olivia is a wildcard though, she picks up an extra ability every round so when she's allowed to live for multiple rounds, she can become a one women army.

In round 2, half of the enemy team was already gone while the Corrupted Healing did an awesome job sustaining my team, I think it's THE best ability currently. Inept Healer wasn't cheap when I got her but definitely worth it.

Sira made the final kill, ending the enemy's misery. This was a truly glorious win which I needed after so many losses. 😅

This early in the season I'm still in Gold 3, where the rewards aren't that big. Still, every SPS shard is one extra and I'm focused on accumulating as many as I can before the end of the year.
