Survival in Splinterlands

With the season coming closer to an end I was stuck not playing in either Wild or Modern and finding out that Soul Keep is limited upon play after completing league play. I was left mainly to collect in land production but even that has its limitation on gameplay.

I was looking through my rental and realizing I had plenty of cards dormant from play I decided to play some Survival mode and boy is it turning interesting. With the start at the lowest league I was able to propel into a rank that could potentially earn me some end of season rewards under the bronze league.

With a few battles I was able to sneak into top 30 and continue to steadily climb. I am hoping to stay relevant until end of season in terms of ranking in top 100. I started out having approximately 42 depleted cards, likely from rentals, and now I simply double that amount as I play through some matches.

What is a major pitfall with Survival is that one lose can basically wipe out a whole element since summoners are removed from play and likely top used monsters. With only about a handful of losses out of all my plays it turns out to be harder to stay alive longer in the league as my most top used cards dwindled.

For a positive I now have earned a handful of SPS through battles at current season. I have limited played in prior seasons so it was nice to start earning some SPS in battles again. In terms if I want to continue this in future seasons remains undetermined. I would like to put my cards into land production which I feel yields more in rewards than using them in Survival mode.

On another note regarding Splinterlands proposal it is interesting to see an SPS to USDC pool will likely pass. I like the proposal and have voted for it. Having both DEC and SPS closer to a stable coin, in this case via liquidity pool swaps, will hopefully make for prices to stabilize. In most of the cases after the demand for Splinterlands tokens die down it appears their value drop back to all time lows. Frustrating to see continuation when the game is actively being played daily and there are so many real people invested into the game.
