There is something about dragons that just attracts me to them. The lore of powerful mystical creatures that always appear at the top of the food chain. Who doesn't like to root for them?
In Splinterlands I have a reasonable collection of dragon cards. For the combination of monsters and summoners I have a grand total of a little over $3k in value and at a little over 200k CP.
Some of my favorite are the alpha series dragons and for those who know me well I do not have deep pockets so even betas will make due.
Of course some of my most used dragon cards comes from Untamed and Reward series.
I often use summoner Dragonscale with Manticore and Dragon Jumper. Sometimes in high mana battles I also put in The Vigilator.
Getting onto the post today I will look at a latest match I have in wild format and facing off some new Riftwatcher cards.
The battle was limited to 36 mana and with rule sets Silenced Summoners and Holy Protection. With that I went with a dragon formation as I had a reasonable amount of mana to play with.
My formation went with summoner Dragonscale and the monster formation started with Haunted Spirit, Manticore, Dragon Jumper, Twisted Jester, Enchanted Pixie and ending with Sand Worm. I focused really on enhanced melee with +2 in combination of Dragonscale and Ecnhanted Pixie.
My opponent in a similar plan went with death splinter but no mix of dragon. Their formation started with Cursed Windeku, Disintegrator, Silent Sha-Vi, Life Sapper, Dhamper Stalker, and ending with Dark Astronomer.
Their formation appear to be mostly focused some decent tankers in the front and long range attack in the back. Meanwhile my formation was a scattered amount of melee mixed in with some magic and range in the middle of the formation.
Right off the bat my opponent's Sapper was knocked out but by end of the round my tanker was down to 1 health. Even with all the Holy Protection it was not enough to keep all monsters intact.
By end of second round I was in the lead with 5 to 3 monsters. In addition most of my monsters had equal or higher health than my opponent.
By end of round three it was clear I was in control as the formations were now 5 to 1. Surprisingly my Manticore now was looking to be a good tanker as its health was still at 5.
I closed out the match with Manticore taking the final attack on Silent Sha-Vi.
Nearly in all rounds my combo of Dragon Jumper, and then Pixie, followed with Manticore having the one, two, three punches made it possible to defeat my opponent. The trio provided a strong enough combo that simply was too strong to take out. Combining Dragon Jumper and Manticore it was 7 melee in attacks.
Also it was a big help in that my opponent was using full set of level 1 cards. Maybe if they had higher level cards used in the same formation the outcome would be much more different. Also I had mostly neglected using toughness all around while my opponent had it and kept them alive a bit longer.
Dragons are power monsters in Splinterlands and today's battle I presented shows a good example. I know there are plenty of strong cards in the game but dragons really stand out in that there are some of the highest stats cards in the game and its ability to be able to mix with any other splinter.
The advantages of using dragon splinter is ideal in high mana matches and that players who use them want to have fast and hard hits. A lot of my favorite battles are around the dragon splinter. What are your most memorable battles? Any of them including dragons ;)
Until next time thanks for reading!!!
I have plenty of other cards for rent! Just go on peakmonsters and check out the market place and if you are curious what I offer here is a link:
Pixie with the +1 melee attack seems pretty awesome and it works even better with Daria in the mix. Great match.
