Learning about the DHF Saga

A few days ago the Splinterlands Propoaal to provide game with daily HBD appear to have passed. In that regards Splinterlands was to have sufficient proceeds to perform its endeavors and make the game better.

The slightly lower of 27 million HP upvote equates to yielding the sufficient daily amount of HBD to Splinterlands.

However front image of post has a proposal that has been upheld to supersede Splinterlands on the basis of something’s not quit clear cut and dry. I won’t go into the details as I too am not clear as to what Aggroed did or did not do that caused the current blockade of funding to Splinterland.

Instead let’s look at the proposal that has been on going for years and continues to gain enough support to not allow Splinterlands to receive funding.

The Return Proposal was created right after the Hive fork from Steem. The proposal controls the funds of account hive.fund from distribution of it’s daily incurred assets. Specifically 10% of its Hive blockchain’s annual new supply of tokens.

As of now the hive.fund account holds over 41.7million liquid Hive. In order for proposals to get access to these tokens their proposals have to have total upvote exceeding that of the Return Proposal.

Gtg created Return Proposal to stop small proposals to gain funding on the premise of reaping the blockchain for profit. Instead with the proposal users could upvote to redirect the funds to proposals that can expand Hive’s footprint and or make the blockchain better.

In simply math here currently Return Proposal has over 29 million HP upvote while Splinterlands DHF proposal just slightly under 27 million. This blocks Splinterlands from any funding which is leading to a stalemate for what had hope been funds to make the game better.

Since Splinterland’s proposal runs for 180 days apparently the increase in upvotes for Return Proposal happened right after Splinterlands appear to have reached sufficient upvote target. So as long as Return Proposal holds higher upvote than Splinterland’s proposal for the next 175 days or so then Splinterland’s gets zero from the proposal.

There are posts across Hive and other social media platforms discussing who the whales of HP voting for Return Proposal and their reasons behind stopping Splinterland’s from gaining blockchain funding. As the drama unfolds it will be interesting to see who comes out winning.

As a long term fan of the game I can only sit by and watch this unfold as I am not a player position to do anything to help. It is simply fascinating how the power struggle in a decentralized system is being played out. There is not all roses and sunshine even in a decentralized system. People in power can still enforce their own beliefs onto others whether we like it or not.

Get your popcorn ready as this show seems to have just begun. I wonder how Splinterland’s will proceed moving forward. It seems right now Aggroed is trying to plead his side to persuade powers at be to drop upvoting Return Proposal. Hopefully this all works out and we can see both Hive chain and Splinterland’s succeed.
