Hello Splinterlands lovers!

The Conclave Arcana Fever is On, and as we expected, the archons and monsters are taking over the battle arena in modern format and even challenging the OG old cards in the wild format. We already witnessed the insane hype around the Conclave Arcana edition cards in the presale, as over 2.4 million USD of packs got sold just in presale, with around 700k USD of packs being sold in the last couple of hours before the end of presale. Furthermore, as the general sale has started already from 13th May onwards and is now live, we can see plenty of packs being sold already in the general sale too. Anyway, with the Conclave Arcana cardset, a total of 82 new cards have been introduced to the game and from a player’s perspective, it will need some time to learn about them all and where and how to utilise them in battles for the best possible result. So right now, all the players are trying to put these new cards in their lineup and researching for new strategies and combo attacks, which certainly is making the game even more interesting.

Now, all these new cards carry both old and new abilities, so I was excited to see if this new card set has any good cards with opportunity ability, which is one of my favourite abilities in the game. If you don't know, monsters with Opportunity ability always target the enemy monster with the lowest health, so using Opportunity ability cards gives you an upper hand in taking down the backline attackers faster. Now, generally, we used to see opportunity monsters possessing melee attack but surprisingly, with the Conclave Arcana cardset, most of the opportunity cards are actually non-melee attackers, which sparked my interest even more. So, in this post, I will be talking about my top conclave arcana card choice with opportunity ability. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.

WATER DIVINER

Yes, after looking at all of them, my top choice for an opportunity ability card would be none other than the Water Diviner and in this post, I would like to showcase and talk deep about this card. I also have a strong feeling this card will soon become one of the most popular cards in splinterlands modern format because of its mana cost, stats and ability combo. This monster belongs to the water element and the main USP of this card is its mana cost, which is only 2. Now, there are not many cards in Conclave Arcana edition with such a low mana cost, so this monster will become a must-have to play those low mana limit matches, especially in modern format. The attack type of this monster is magic and it is a Rare type card, which means you would need a total of 115 BCXs of cards to upgrade this monster to max level. This monster comes from the Gnome bloodline and with its low mana cost but devastating attack power, it can become your best friend for those tiny mana limit matches.

STATS

Now, looking at the stats of this monster, it seems very powerful at max level, so you can use it for just 2 mana. It possesses a combo of large health and a decent armour since its initial level, which makes this monster defensive against all 3 types of attacks. Its magic attack also increases from 1 to 2 from level 2 onwards, and gets increased to 3 from level 6 onwards. So, getting a monster with 3 magic attack for just 2 mana is just awesome and can certainly change the game to your favour.

ABILITIES

Now, looking at its abilities - it carries 3 abilities - Electrified, Opportunity and Stun. At this point, there’s nothing more to argue about the fact that this monster is really overpowered for a 2 mana cost and I am sure that the Electrified ability was added to it to equalise things. Now, it gets both the Electrified and Opportunity abilities since its initial level and the Stun ability gets unlocked when you upgrade this monster to max level. Let’s take a look at what these 3 abilities do.

Electrified - Monsters with this ability deal 1 damage to all friendly monsters at the beginning of round 2 and each following round.

Yes, as you read the short description, thus ability will actually work against you and my advice, either use tough monsters with it who can endure the damage and continue to attack or try to finish the match as early as possible, or you can even out this card in such a position where it gets attacked first and die while protecting your other monsters. Feel free to think with an open mind and you will come up with such unique strategies with this monster, but one thing is for sure - do not underestimate its power.

Opportunity - Monsters with this ability will target the enemy monster with the lowest amount of health.

Now, this ability is the main weapon of this monster. With opportunity ability, it will always target the enemy monsters with the least health, so if used strategically, you can sweep out the enemy backline attackers with low health hiding behind the front defence and hiving you damage. Now, with the Water Diviner, another major advantage that you get is the opportunity to use + Magic attack combo. Now think about it, what would happen if the enemy card your Water Diviner attacking has a huge armour on it, like the Dumacke Orc, which has a huge strong armour but the least amount of health. But thanks to its magic attack x whenever it targets an enemy monster with the least health, its magic attack will directly hit the enemy card’s health, avoiding its armour.

Stun - Monsters with the Stun ability have a 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round after a successful attack. Stunned units will skip their next turn and cannot retaliate.

Now, this is an old OG ability that I am sure most of you like. With Water Diviner, the chances of applying Stun ability increase even more because of its magic attack, which won't miss its target unless it has Phase ability. Hence, the more Stun you apply to enemy monsters, the lesser number of attacks you will receive.

Overall, and as you can clearly see, Water Diviner to me is an overpowered card and a useful card to keep in your collection, especially for small mana limit matches. If you can find a solution for its Electrified ability, this card brings you insane results while battling and has the potential to turn the tables to your side.
