Splinterlands Wailsworn Specter | A Magic Thrower High on Abilities

Kaylia Silverleaf.jpg

Hello my fellow Splinterlands Warriors,

Welcome back to another juicy Splinterlands post guys, and I hope all of you are doing absolutely great in your lives and enjoying a beautiful weekend with your loved ones. If you are also engaging with this game on a daily basis like me, then I guess you are already enjoying the ranked battles, which have been going smoothly. I also hope that you are steadily climbing the trophy ladder while collecting plenty of valuable rewards along the way. The current ranked season still has around 7 days and 1 hour remaining before it comes to an end, which means there is still plenty of time left to continue grinding battles and work toward those trophy goals. So whether you are trying to reach a particular league tier, increase your season rewards, or make a serious leaderboard push, I wish all of you the very best for the remaining days of the season.

Now, talking about my own progress in the Frontier mode, I am currently battling in the highest Gold I league with 3,560 trophies. As usual, my first objective is to reach the 4,300 trophy milestone, and after reaching that point I will see whether I have enough Battle Energy and time remaining to make another push toward the leaderboard. Looking at the weekly raffle progress, I currently have 48 raffle entries collected. There are around 2 days and 1 hour remaining before the raffle ends, but unfortunately my Battle Energy has dropped to only 1 right now. Because of that, I am keeping my target a little more realistic this time and aiming for somewhere between 54 and 57 entries.

Today's Frontier Daily Wheel brought another small step forward in my Sparks collection, as I have now reached my 82nd consecutive daily streak, and my total Sparks balance has increased to 29,876. Hopefully, the upcoming daily rewards will help me cross the 30K mark very soon. Anyways, I also received a new card today called Vaelok, which belongs to the Dragon element, and I have already added it to my collection. It is always nice to receive a completely new card instead of the usual sparks.

Apart from that, today I also opened 5 Foundation Packs that I earned from the last two days' rewards. This was actually a very interesting pack opening. I managed to pull 2 Legendary cards, 1 Epic card, 1 Gold Foil Rare Archon, and another 3 Rare cards, although none of those regular Rare cards were Archons this time. I also received 1 Gold Foil Common card, while the remaining cards were regular Common cards. Getting two Legendary cards from only five packs is definitely a great outcome, so I am quite happy with today's opening.

Wailsworn Specter

Now moving on to today's featured monster, let us take a closer look at another interesting monster from the newest Conclave Arcana Reward card set. As you have already seen in the title and thumbnail above, today we will be discussing the Wailsworn Specter. So, if you are interested in knowing more about this card, then let's take a deep dive without any further ado.

The Wailsworn Specter is a monster type card, that was first seen in the game with the launch of the newest Conclave Arcana Reward card set. This monster belongs to the Water element and comes from the Undead bloodline. It is classified as an Epic monster card, so it needs a total of 46 cc cards, making it considerably more difficult to upgrade than Common and Rare monsters. Wailsworn Specter costs 6 mana to deploy and uses Magic attacks, allowing it to deal direct damage to enemy Health. At maximum level, this monster possesses four different abilities, and most of them are focused on strengthening the rest of your team rather than simply increasing its own offensive power. Let us now take a closer look at its stats and abilities across different leagues.

BRONZE

At Level 2, Wailsworn Specter possesses 2 Magic attack, 2 Speed, and 3 Health. Although its basic defensive statistics are not particularly impressive, it already gains two important abilities called BLOODLINE TRIBUTE and AMPLIFY.

BLOODLINE TRIBUTE – When defeated, all allied units sharing this monster's bloodline gain +1 Speed, +1 Armor, +1 Health, and +1 Power to each shared attack type.

AMPLIFY – Increases the damage dealt by Retaliate, Corrosive Ward, Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns for all friendly units by 1. This effect does not stack.

SILVER

At Level 3, Wailsworn Specter maintains 2 Magic attack and 2 Speed while also having 3 Health. At this level, it unlocks another useful team-support ability called WEAKEN.

WEAKEN – Reduces the maximum Health of all enemy units by 1.

GOLD

At Level 5, Wailsworn Specter improves to 3 Magic attack, 2 Speed, and 4 Health. Although it does not gain a new ability at this stage, the additional Magic damage makes it a more threatening attacker while its existing abilities continue supporting the team.

DIAMOND / CHAMPION

At Level 6, Wailsworn Specter reaches its maximum form with 3 Magic attack, 2 Speed, and 4 Health. At maximum level, it unlocks its final ability called INVIGORATE.

INVIGORATE – Prevents allied units from becoming Exhausted.

I think Wailsworn Specter is a very interesting Epic monster because its real strength does not necessarily come from its own statistics. If we look at the numbers alone, the 6 mana cost may initially feel slightly expensive considering its relatively low Health and slow Speed. However, the four abilities completely change the way this monster can contribute to a battle. The first ability that really stands out to me is Bloodline Tribute. If you build your lineup with multiple Undead monsters, this card can provide a significant boost when it is finally defeated. Those allied monsters receive additional Speed, Armor, Health, and Power based on their shared attack types. So, you can also think of it as a potential sacrifice that leaves your remaining team stronger. The Amplify ability is another very interesting one. It increases the damage from abilities such as Retaliate, Corrosive Ward, Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns by 1 for all friendly units. This means Wailsworn Specter becomes particularly useful when combined with monsters that already specialize in returning damage to their attackers. Then we have Weaken, which reduces the maximum Health of every enemy monster by 1. It may look like a small reduction, but remember that it affects the entire enemy lineup. Every enemy monster becomes slightly easier to eliminate, and when combined with your team's regular attacks, that missing point of maximum Health can sometimes make the difference between an enemy surviving another hit or being removed from the battlefield. Finally, Invigorate provides another very useful layer of team support by preventing allied monsters from becoming Exhausted. This can be especially valuable in battles where Exhaustion mechanics could otherwise interrupt your team's attacks and reduce its overall effectiveness. Overall, I believe Wailsworn Specter is a card that rewards thoughtful lineup building. Its own statistics may not look overwhelming, but its abilities can influence the entire battlefield. For only 6 mana, it is a surprisingly large amount of utility packed into one monster, so if you enjoy creating ability-focused teams rather than relying purely on raw attack power, Wailsworn Specter is definitely a monster worth experimenting with.
