Splinterlands | SWIFTBEARD STOUT’s defensive abilities are so useful

(edited)

Hello Splinterlands fam!

I guess you all are having an awesome day with your loved ones and also engaging in splinterlands on a daily basis in your free time. For those who play this game dedicatedly, I hope you all are focusing on the ranked season right now and growing your account in the long run while enjoying the journey. It feels like the current season has just started, but actually, we have come near the middle of this ongoing ranked season. Looking at the timer, only 8 days and 18 hours remain before the season comes to an end. So, be sure to reach your goals before time and try to accomplish whatever goals you have set before the last days of the season end to avoid the bloodbath.

Now, on the other hand, a new announcement has surfaced in the official Splinterlands Discord where they have announced some changes to the stats of the latest voucher card - Tasoshi Drakamoto. According to the notice, they have added the Painforge ability at level 2, and the mana cost has also been decreased from 8 to 6. After hearing the feedback about this card from the community and monitoring the activities, the team has decided to bring those changes, and undoubtedly, with a lower mana cost and a new ability, the Deakamoto has become even more powerful now. Since the card is still live for sale, I guess more people will buy this card, and hopefully, this card will appear more on the battlefield.

Now moving forward, let me come to the main topic of this post, as today, I will be showcasing another amazing Conclave Arcana, and as you have already seen in the thumbnail above, today we will be talking about the elite warrior and the master of arrows, the mighty SWIFTBEARD STOUT. So, if you are interested, let’s take a dive without any further ado.

SWIFTBEARD STOUT

Swiftbeard Stout is a monster type card that first launched with the introduction of the latest CA edition card set, and I guess many of you have already got familiar with this card. This monster belongs to the Fire element, and it comes from the Dwarf bloodline. By rarity, it is a Rare type card, which means you will require a total of 115 BCX cards in order to upgrade this monster to its max level. This is a big, big card and costs 7 mana to be used in battles, so considering its mana cost, you can ideally use this card when playing medium to large mana limit matches. The attack type of this monster is Ranged, and apart from a decent ranged attack power, this monster also gets a large health bar and a small armour on top of it, along with a decent speed. But the main feature of this card is its 4 abilities, which I will be talking about below. Let us now take a deeper look at this card’s league wise stats and abilities to find out more.

BRONZE

At level 2, this monster card receives 2 ranged attack power at 2 speed with 7 health but no armour. Not only that, but it also gets 2 abilities at this level, first the Taunt ability, which it gets since its initial level and then the Bloodline Tribute ability that it gets at level 2. As you can see, even at bronze level, it has a decent attack power with a large health bar, which can withstand multiple attacks, so you can well utilise its Taunt ability to focus all backline enemy attacks on it, while your other attackers will do the job.

TAUNT - Draws the attacks of enemy units. Does not affect reach, scattershot, wingbreak or enemy units in the first position.

BLOODLINE TRIBUTE - When defeated, all allied units of the same bloodline gain +1 health, speed, and armour and +1 power to other shared attack types.

SILVER

When you upgrade this monster to level 4, it possesses 2 ranged attack power at 3 speed with 1 armour and 7 health, along with those 2 abilities that I mentioned above. Though it does not get any new abilities at this league level, it gets a little armour on it, which will hopefully save it from the first melee or ranged attack, and of course, the increased speed will allow it to draw its arrows a bit faster.

GOLD

As this monster card gets upgraded further to level 6, its stats get upgraded further, as now it gets 2 ranged attack power at 4 speed with 1 armour and 8 health. Not only that, but it also gets another new ability called Backfire. Well, now not only does this monster attack, but it also gives extra damage whenever an enemy card misses their target in this monster. And as this mobster already has the Tribute ability, it is expected to get targeted with plenty of attacks. Ao increasing its speed further by using cards that have swift or slow, may increase this card’s chance of dodging attacks and thus, cause more damage via the Backfire ability.

BACKFIRE - When an enemy unit misses its attack upon this card, it deals 2 physical damage to them.

DIAMOND / CHAMPION

Finally, when you upgrade your monster to its max level of 8, it receives further increased stats of 2 ranged attacks at 4 speed with 1 armour and 9 health. But not only does its health get an increment, but it also receives another awesome ability at its max level called Blast. Blast is my favourite ability because of its popular splash damage to adjacent monsters of the main target, and it always helps to take down multiple enemy cards faster.

BLAST - Deals an additional 50% damage (rounded up) to units adjacent to the target.

Last but not least, I think the best features of this card are first- its high health bar and small armour with Taunt ability, which will attract enemy attacks on it and protect your other attackers. On top of that, if you can increase its speed more, you would get more chances of evading melee and ranged attacks and send them damage via backfire. Next, its bloodline tribute will help you greatly when this card dies and consider using cards from the same bloodline to utilise this ability even more. Lastly, its blast ability also gives you immense firepower, but due to its low attack power, I doubt if it will actually help you big time, unless you increase its range and attack power. Overall, it's a great defensive card in my opinion and deserves a place in your collection. What do you say?

I hope you enjoyed reading my post about the SWIFTBEARD STOUT card above. Let me know your thoughts about this monster in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
