Splinterlands | Summoner Races and Campaign Mode Coming Soon

(edited)

Hello Readers,

If you have been keeping an eye on Splinterlands, then you can also vouch for the fact that Splinterlands has started evolving at a rapid speed. Now there are thousands of old players actively playing this game and if you are also one of them and have thought that you had mastered the game, well, it's time to think again! Even after launching so many continuous updates including - Rental mode to seasonal only, Rental Floor Price Increase, Validators Node, New in-game UI and lastly Land 1.75 Update, splinterlands is not just stopping there, but hinted to come back with even bigger surprises.

If you don't know already, the conversation from the latest online Town Hall meeting is setting a new stage for us splinterlands lovers, because a whole new way to build decks, strategize battles and a new gameplay mechanism - all of these being built right now, so be ready to experience the game like never before. So in today’s post, we will be talking about the next 2 big things in Splinterlands - the introduction of Summoner Races and an exciting Campaign mode. So, if you are interested, let us take a dive and break it all down together!

Summoner Races

First of all, the biggest bombshell that was dropped in the latest Splinterlands Town Hall meeting by Nate and Blazekos was the introduction of Summoner Races. Up until now, summoners could only summon monsters that matched their elemental type with some special perks some summoners like Dragon or Neutral summoners can use any element with their respective element or the Dual Mana Summoners can select cards from 2 different elements. But all that we know regarding Splinterlands is all about to change with this upcoming update. With this new gameplay update, certain summoners will now be able to summon monsters based on their race, rather than just element.

This means we will soon be about to see Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Ulonds and Gnomes forming new powerful lineup combinations, regardless of their card color or element. Now, the fact that makes this even more exciting is that these racial summoners come with a unique Racial Dominion ability, so they will be able to provide extra boosts and abilities to their race-friendly monster army.

Now, if we start brainstorming about how this new Summoner Race update will change the existing gameplay style, just think about the cards we once overlooked or thought were duplicates of other cards, all those cards have suddenly become valuable again. Already with the Survival Mode update, we can use our extra copies of cards for battles and with this upcoming update, if you have been preparing well for Survival Mode already and have been stockpiling certain monster cards, then now might be your chance to use them in this upcoming battle mode with ways you never imagined.

Now, with the upcoming edition Conclave Arcana card-set launch update, the team will ensure that this new change affects both the Modern & Wild format and also the newly introduced Survival Race mode. With the upcoming Summoner Races update, our old deck-building practice is about to get reshaped, as Splinterlands has officially entered a new era. So whether you are a master player or just starting your career in this game, I would advise adapting to this mechanic as soon as it launches, because then it will be key to your continuous victories!

Campaign Mode

Another game-changing update apart from the Summoner Races has also been talked about in the latest Town Hall update, which is called the Campaign Mode. Now, almost every web2 big game has its own Story mode or Campaign mode, which is actually being made to entertain players with the base story while teaching them the in-game controls, but the Splinterlands developers have made it pretty clear that this new Campaign mode in Splinterlands will not just be a minor addition, it is actually going to be a core part of the Splinterlands ecosystem.

Now, what makes this feature even more exciting is the launch of the Splinterlands mobile app! Now, especially for the old players like me, we always wished to get a stable Splinterlands gaming app for our phones but looks like it is finally becoming a reality soon. If we become able to play campaign battles on our phones anytime, anywhere, wouldn't that be just amazing? As discussed in Town Hall also, after the mobile app launches, all of us will be able to introduce our friends, family or colleagues to this amazing game in seconds, we just have to hand them our phone and let them play a couple of campaign matches to give an idea while watching them get hooked!

One of the biggest problems for crypto-based games to acquire new players has always been the crypto aspect of the game. A new user would have to open a Hive account and learn everything about Private and Public keys, their importance, secrecy and most importantly, how to securely use or save them. But with this upcoming Campaign Mode, new players can take a straight dive into the game while being risk-free. While joining, they don’t need to worry about the cryptocurrency or NFT stuff right away, they can be fully focused and able to experience the thrill of battle and the satisfaction of brainstorming and strategizing for the perfect deck. It’s a brilliant move for onboarding new players into the community.

A New Playing Model

Well, it looks like the introduction of Dave McCoy as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) into the Game has really become fruitful and already giving us signals that some big things are coming. For McCoy, his role in the company is basically to make Splinterlands more accessible, engaging and welcoming to new players. As the game migrates with a focus on learning, PVE (Player vs. Environment) battles and strategic deck-building, I believe Dave’s leadership will be both pivotal and critical in re-shaping the future of Splinterlands.

Matt, one of the founders and core team members of Splinterlands has summed it up perfectly. As he said, “Learning while playing PVE and building a foundation deck will be the key to onboarding.” I think that is exactly what Campaign Mode is designed to do and not to mention, I salute the hard work of the entire Splinterlands team because it is only for them that the future of Splinterlands looks brighter than ever.
