Splinterlands | PHLEGMUNCULUS is one of the most powerful small mana cards

Hello Splinterlands fam!

I guess you all are doing well and enjoying the day with your family and friends. Now, for those of you who play Splinterlands, I hope you are all performing well in the game and trying to climb the trophy ladder to enter higher league tiers while competing in brawls and tournaments as well. Taking a quick look at the ongoing ranked season, it seems time is flying fast. Although it appears the current ranked season has started only days ago, we have actually reached almost the season's end, with only around 4 days left before it concludes. So whatever goals you have in your mind for this season, whether it is to reach a particular league tier or to redeem and protect a seat in the top champion leaderboard, I hope you reach them as quickly as possible. Because we all know that the season-end bloodbath is about to begin pretty soon and most of your opponents would be unbeatable OG players coming with their deadly collection of cards. So pour all your strength and strategies on the battlefield and try to claim as many victories as possible.

On the other hand, besides actively playing all the different game modes, we should keep an eye on the lands as well. For those who own and run land plots actively, hopefully, most of you are reinvesting your produced resources back into the game to increase your skin in the land game. For me, I only have one Land plot that produces Grain resource and I have been reinvesting all my grains in the pool to earn fees. Today, after claiming my Grain, I was very glad to find out that I have saved another big bunch of grain in my resource wallet, so I decided to visit the market again and invest all this grain, coupled with DEC in the pool, to increase my existing stake. As you can see from the screenshot above, I had a total of 263k + Grain in my wallet and in order to invest it in the pool, the required amount of DEC that I needed was around 2,836 DEC. Gladly, I have more than that in my DEC wallet, so without wasting any more time, I immediately used the required DEF and added both of those tokens to the pool. After adding, I have now increased my pool size by a good bit. As you can see from the screenshot above, now I have around 906k Grain and 9,780 DEC staked in the pool, the valuation of which is approx 13.19$. It's not much, but I think it's way better than just holding off your earned resources. So far, I have earned around 0.36$ from the pool and hopefully, as time passes and I continue to increase my stake, I will reach 1 million grains pretty soon.

Now moving forward, let me come to the main topic of this post, as today, I will be talking about another great Conclave Arcana monster with you all. As you have already discovered in the thumbnail above, today I will be shedding light upon the Phlegmunculus. So, if you are interested and want to know more about this card, let’s take a dive without any further ado.

Phlegmunculus

The Phlegmunculus is a monster type card that was first seen in the game with the launch of the latest Conclave Arcana card set. This weird and shapeless looking monster belongs to the Earth element and comes from the Divine Construct. Looking at its mana cost, it is one of the rare cards in the game that costs only 2 mana to be used in battles, so you can easily fit this monster in your lineup, even when playing matches with the smallest mana limits. By rarity, it is a Rare type card, so you would need a total of 115 BCX cards to upgrade it to its max level. It comes with dual attacks - range and melee and I was really surprised to see such a small mana cost monster with 2 attack types. Not only that, apart from having 2 different kinds of attack, this monster also features decent armour and a large health bar, but slow speed and also gets 2 very useful abilities at its max level, which I am about to talk about later in this post. Let us now take a deeper look at this monster’s league-wise stats and abilities to find out more.

BRONZE

At level 2, this monster possesses decent stats of 1 melee attack and 1 ranged attack power at 1 speed with 2 health. Apart from that, it also gets an ability called close range at this level, which enables it to launch ranged attacks from the first position. So, even from level 2 onwards, you can easily benefit from both of its attacks, even if you use it in the first position.

CLOSE RANGE - Can use ranged attacks from the first position.

SILVER

When this monster reaches level 4, its overall stats increase a bit, as it now gets 1 melee attack and 1 ranged attack power at 1 speed with 2 armour and 2 health, along with the Close Range ability. Though it doesn't get any new abilities at this level, the added armour will protect it from melee and ranged attacks, buying you more time.

GOLD

As you upgrade this monster further to level 6, it receives a further increase in stats of 2 melee attack and 1 ranged attack power at 1 speed with 2 armour and 3 health. However. It does not get any new abilities at this level as well, but hopefully, its increased melee attack will cope well with it.

DIAMOND / CHAMPION

Finally, when this monster gets upgraded to its max level of 8, it possesses 2 melee attacks and 1 ranged attack power at 1 speed with 2 armour and 5 health. Not only that, but apart from these enhanced stats, it also gets a new ability from level 7 onwards called Poison Burst, which will poison its killer with a chance of poisoning the attacker’s adjacent monsters to help you win the match.

POISON BURST - When defeated, 100% chance to apply Poisoned to attacker and 50% chance to apply Poisoned to units adjacent to attacker. Poisoned units lose 2 health at the beginning of each round.
