Welcome back to another cool and thrilling Splinterlands post, and I hope you all are doing pretty well today and enjoying an energetic day with your family and friends while waiting for the weekend. Now, if you are actively engaging in this Web3 card-based strategy game without any stress because of the market conditions, then I hope you are actively playing in this ongoing ranked season as well and pushing and shoving towards your goal. We are now getting closer to the end of the current ranked season, as the season clock is telling us, with only 7 days and 23 hours remaining. So, if you are still trying to push your trophy count higher, this might be your moment to give it your best shot. So, whether your target is to reach a particular no of trophies to enter a certain league tier, or to try to make your way towards the leaderboard, I wish you all the best and hope you reach there in time.

For me, I am currently playing in the highest Gold I league with 3300 trophies, and my next target is to reach 4000 trophies before trying to make my way towards the leaderboard. There is still some work to do, but I am hoping to make good progress over the remaining days. Though there is still over a week left, the competition is getting harder each season, so let's see how it goes this time. Now let us take a look at the weekly raffle. With only 1 day and 22 hours remaining, I have collected 39 entries so far. My target is still between 54 and 57 entries, so I will need to gather quite a few more before the raffle closes.

Today also marks my 173rd consecutive day of playing Splinterlands and although I received a card skin that I already had in my collection, the game compensated me with 100 + 25 Sparks instead. This brings my total Sparks balance to 26248. These little rewards give me my daily motivational boost I am happy to keep building up my Sparks balance while maintaining this daily streak.

Today, I also opened 5 Foundation-type packs that I earned through the Frontier Mission rewards over the last 2 days. The opening gave me 1 Epic, 7 Rare cards including 1 Archon, and 3 Gold Foil Common cards, while the remaining cards were Common. It was a pretty interesting opening, especially with those Gold Foil cards.

Now moving on to today's featured monster, let us take a closer look at another interesting monster from the newest extra edition card set. As you have already seen in the title above, today we will be discussing Darkguard Hellion, a high-speed flying melee monster. So, if you are interested, let's take a deep dive without any further ado.
The Darkguard Hellion is a monster type card that was first seen in the game with the launch of the latest Extra Edition card set. It belongs to the Fiend bloodline and comes from the dual Death and Fire elements. It is a Common monster with a massive 9 Mana cost and has a total of 5 abilities at its maximum level. Since it is a Common card, you will need 400 CC to upgrade it to its maximum level. But with its impressive Speed, powerful melee attack and a collection of abilities that become available as it levels up, Darkguard Hellion looks like a monster worth taking a closer look at. So, without any further ado, let us explore its stats and abilities across the different leagues.

At Level 3, Darkguard Hellion possesses 3 Melee attack, 5 Speed and 6 Health. Even at Bronze level, it already comes with two useful abilities that make it a dangerous attacker.

FLYING – Has a +25% chance to evade physical attacks. This has no effect if the attacker also has Flying, and the monster is immune to Earthquake.

ENRAGE – Gains +50% Speed and +50% Melee attack, rounded up, whenever it is no longer at full Health.
At Level 5, Darkguard Hellion receives an attack upgrade, now possessing 4 Melee attack, 5 Speed and 6 Health. It also unlocks another ability that allows it to grow stronger as the battle progresses.

SCAVENGER – Gains +1 Health and maximum Health each time any unit is defeated.
At Level 8, Darkguard Hellion maintains its 4 Melee attack and 5 Speed, while its Health increases to 8. And here comes its fourth ability named Life Leech.

LIFE LEECH – Increases Health and maximum Health by 50% of the damage dealt, rounded up.
At Level 10, Darkguard Hellion reaches its maximum level and receives another attack upgrade. It now possesses 5 Melee attack, 5 Speed and 8 Health. And finally, it unlocks its fifth and final ability called Bloodlust.

BLOODLUST – Gains +1 to all stats after dealing a killing blow.
After looking at all its stats and abilities, I would say Darkguard Hellion is a powerful monster with a very interesting combination of attack power, Speed and survivability. First of all, its 5 Melee attack, 5 Speed and 8 Health at maximum level are impressive stats for a 9 Mana monster. Considering its high Mana cost, I would expect it to bring something special to the battlefield, and I think it certainly does. The Flying ability is one of its biggest advantages. When combined with its naturally high Speed, it gives Darkguard Hellion a 25% additional chance to evade physical attacks, provided the attacker does not also have Flying. This can make it extremely difficult for many non-flying physical attackers to land their attacks successfully, not to mention that it also makes the monster immune to Earthquake. Then comes Enrage, which makes things even more interesting. Whenever Darkguard Hellion loses even a little Health, it gains a 50% boost to both its Melee attack and Speed, with the attack increase rounded up. So, damaging this monster can actually make it more dangerous. Next, the Scavenger ability is another excellent addition. Every time any unit is defeated, Darkguard Hellion gains +1 Health and maximum Health. This means it can keep growing throughout the battle, regardless of which team loses a monster. And when you combine this with Life Leech, its Health can increase even further. Life Leech allows it to gain Health and maximum Health based on 50% of the damage it deals, rounded up. In other words, successfully attacking enemies can help it stay alive longer while also increasing its maximum Health. That is a pretty useful combination for a monster that is expected to remain on the battlefield and keep attacking. Finally, we have Bloodlust, which takes its power to another level. Every time Darkguard Hellion delivers a killing blow, it gains +1 to all stats. Imagine this monster surviving long enough to take down multiple enemy cards. With every kill, it becomes stronger, faster and more difficult to defeat. And when you combine Bloodlust with Enrage, Scavenger and Life Leech, you get a monster that has several ways to increase its power and survivability during a battle.
Overall, I think Darkguard Hellion is a very interesting addition to the newest extra edition card set. Its 9 Mana cost is certainly on the higher side, but the combination of high Speed, Flying, Enrage and three abilities that help it grow stronger makes it a formidable melee attacker. If you can give it the right support and keep it alive long enough to take advantage of its abilities, it can turn into a serious battlefield threat. This is definitely a monster that deserves attention.
